Balancing exercises aren’t my thing. Hence the reason I may have shin splints

I’m a clumsy MFER. I ran over a bench one time while drunk.

Foam rolling is your friend. Apply as much pressure as you can.

Here is a reasonably hot chick demonstrating what you need to do.

Don’t forget the calves. That’ll give you the most relief.

Only used to get them if running too much on concrete.

Check your surfaces?

The resistivity of a surface is important. Hence, the thread on running on grass vs. concrete.

Yes they suck. If you stretch and take it easy they usually recover quickly

Yes, and they suck. I bought some running shoes made for my under pronation I believe it was (walk on outside of foot)...changed my stride to not be so heel toe and more mid foot/ball of my foot type. Also used some compression sleeves for the first few weeks followed by compression socks for a couple hours after I'd run.

Now, I can run without the splints.

Shin splints dont exist. Just an excuse fat people use when they exercise “too much”

-Zero drop running shoes
-Foam rolling the muscles in front but especially your calves and into your achilles will provide the greatest relief
-stretch your calves using gravity multiple times a day and try to feel the stretch in your achilles
-heating pad can help as well

Yeah - I ran through mine.

2 things happened. I changed from New Balance to Nike and I did more hills than I ever did in my life.

I changed back to New Balance and stopped running hills and I never got shin splints again.

The only thing that helped even a little was ice.

I had my Achilles rupture. But no, never shin splints, I don't run unless someone is chasing me.

If you ever did a fair amount of running/jogging, 10K's etc you had to deal with it.

Gotta keep your calves stretched. Mine were almost stress fractures — took time to heal and recover.

Freeze ice in small cups and rub it in circles on your shins after exercising. Also, like someone else said, stretch properly and wear proper shoes.
