If so, how did you get it fixed?
I had a flare up several years back when I started my office job and I could barely get up and down the stairs for a while. I had gotten way too sedentary outside of work and was sitting on my arse for 8 hours a day when I did work.
I got back into the gym, focused on slowly increasing my activity with my lower body, and it eventually cleared up over several weeks. Also, a memory foam pad for my office chair was really helpful. I haven't had any real issues since then (knock on wood).
Obviously, though, medical issues are not created equal.

For about 6 months …..Did every type of stretching exercise under the sun with no relief…..Had to get deep cortisone injection in the hip to fix.

Microdiscectomy between L4 & L5 to relieve the right sciatic nerve. They also cut a tunnel space in the bone so that the nerve didn't get pinched because of the shrunken disc.
About ten years later, calcium deposits on the other side of the spine started rubbing the left sciatic nerve. No surgery on the disc, just shave off the calcium deposit.
The sooner you get going on addressing the issue, the better for your nerve recovery. My first one went on for nearly three months before surgery and it took me over a year to get feeling back in right shin.

Yo momma jokes were around in the 70s, good way to get into a fight…

Yes. Dealing with it now. It can be brutal depending on what you do during the day. I'm in construction so some days are terrible. Doc gave me meds that block the nerve but they quit working. Chiro worked for a while as well. Heard good things about the surgery. Outpatient and very easy. That's my next try

PT saved me. They had a occupational massage therapist.
After stretching and teaching me she absolutely hit all the right places. In 3 trips I was walking straight again.
I have a massage gun now and hit the same areas as well as the roller for the piriformus muscle to roll it out.

Been thinking about a massage gun. Guess I'll pull the trigger

Dealing with it now. If its your lower hip and going down your left with numbness, tingling and waves of pain, go directly to PT. Bypass doctors and go to PT.
I had my pain for 2 months, went to 3 doctors with no help, finally went to PT and they knew exactly what was wrong and now 2 weeks later I'm about 80% pain free.

I have occasional nerve pain in my right hip. I stretch for that and while sitting, if it bothers me, I’ll shift my weight to the left side of my buttocks, lift my right leg to put my heel on a coffee table, then rotate my foot left and right to work my right hip. It’s better in just a minute or two.
This sounds kinda like the strecth my PT had me do for low back pain with some sciatica. She had me lay face up on the edge of a sofa or low bed and put my foot on the floor while pulling the other knee to my chest. Flip around and do the other side.
Also I found out that low back pain from common backache can be helped a lot by stretching your calves out. Stand on curb edge or small 4" step and lean forward keeping your knee straight. You will feel a big tension stretch from your calves up to your butt. Tight muscles in calves and hamstrings pull on lower back when you sleep and cause backache.

Sciatic nerve hip pain was one of the worst pains I’ve ever experienced. It started in my hip and radiated down my leg to my Achilles tendon, which felt like it was going to explode.

Yes but you have to know where to press.
She massaged me and used a gun. Then I knew where to hit. The kids or wife will hit me with it when I get stove up.
Find an occupational massage person. Ours was with the PT office. Ask good questions. They'll help and take notes.
