More specifically, have you had a balloon sinuplasty for your sphenoid sinuses?

I do not know anyone who has had it, but the ENT doctors are damn sure pushing it...I know a few different people who have had it suggested to them.

Its supposedly far less invasive than a sinus surgery where they basically remove stuff from your sinuses to reconstruct the passageways.

No but I find it quite interesting to read about being that I’ll have to see my ENT for chronic sinusitis. Frequent headaches almost daily and swelling inside the nose. Sucks.

On the 4th I had endoscopic sinus surgery. Septum repair (3 fractures). 12mm plyop removed and turbinate reduction.

The first day wasn’t bad at all as I was pretty out of it. The worst was the third and fourth day. Combination of heavy bleeding, swelling, congestion, headache, inability to sleep, having to irrigate hourly, spray affrin.... miserable.
Each day after is just a little better.

I’m two weeks removed now and basically dealing with a feeling like I was punched in the nose. I’m told I can last up to a month, but this super cold weather isn’t helping much.

Do not allow packing. Get stints. My surgeon does only stints and the removal was painless.

Overall. Would do it again tomorrow. I was told that for an unknown amount of time in my adult life I had 85% blockage in my nasal cavity. I went from being an athlete to not having any endurance, snoring, poor sleep.

Immediately upon having the stints removed I was in awe with what it felt like to be able to breath. The doctor told me to breath in and I was almost tearing up it was so unreal.

Today and two weeks removed I already have better sleep, little to no snoring as I learn to use my nose and much more endurance.

If you haven't seen an ENT for awhile I'm guessing they'll exhaust the antibiotic/steroid options before recommending any sort of surgery.

That's awesome. Hopefully I can solve my problem without having to go that route.

Wow. I’m a candidate for same surgery. I can’t bring myself to do it. Recovery sounds miserable. How long til you could work?

I asked mine about and he tried dissuading me from it and said that it really didn't clear up the overall issue, and recommended allergy shots. Last year I was absolutely miserable with recurrent sinus infections, but this year I've been on a daily regimen of Flonase and Zyrtec and I think I've gotten sick once.

Why did he recommend allergy shots?

My issue is I have no drainage or stuffy nose, I just always feel pressure in my head. It's like my brain is being squeezed all of the time and it feels deep in my head.

I had balloon sinusplasty, polyp removed, turbinate reduction, deviated septum repair all done on the 12/12. I got sick so it was more miserable than normal that week but I had the splints removed on 12/20 and went on vacation the next day.

My nose is still a little tender on the bridge but overall it was remarkable the different in breathing for me.

I would definitely do again.

I did. Kept getting sinus infections which would lead to ear infections. The surgery went fine, but the recovery sucked due to the stints. you literally cannot breath through your nose during this time. Since then I've had zero sinus infections and it's been close to 3 years now. Definitely recommend it if you have chronic sinus issues.

I am in the same boat. Getting to where I have tried everything else. I just want to be able to breathe again. Honestly, its miserable not being able to.

It's only good for very specific patients--targets frontal, sphenoids, and maxillary sinuses. It will NOT help you breathe better as it doesn't address the septum or inferior turbinates. You can have your inferior turbinates addressed at the same time if that is something your ENT does. The advantage of this is that it can be done under local in a clinic

Are you a doctor because I've seen that it can definitely help sphenoid sinuses as well.

My daughter has CF and major sinus issues. This procedure is revolutionary... No gauze packed sinuses and a quick recovery.

Highly, Highly recommend this procedure

This sounds like traditional sinus surgery, not a balloon sinuplasty.
