Anyone ever gotten drunk while sick, old school style?

I was watching Unforgiven, and when Bill is sick as shite in the saloon, Ned tells him to have a drink it’ll make him feel better. I went down a rabbit hole of thought of people back in the day drinking to numb a fever or what not. I bet they did that a ton back in the day, if you felt like shite on the trail just pound some whiskey till it goes away.
Anyone here ever gotten drunk on a fever?
I’ve drank at the onset of a cold and sore throat, it just feels weird, like the alcohol affects your head but body everything else still feels all achy and shite. I thought it was awful and made it worse.

Hard core..I remember the days at High Point apartment..15 or 20 crashed both sexes..

Mom used to give us hot tea with whiskey and honey for a sore throat when we were kids. Not sure if it did anything for the sore throat but definitely helped put you to sleep.

If I’m sick I usually have a stiff drink or two on top on my cold meds. Makes me forget the misery.

When I caught the Chinavirus I couldn’t smell or taste a thing. I got home from the doctor and drank a huge glass of straight whiskey because I couldn’t taste it or feel the burn. Then drank a 6 pack of tall boys. 30 minutes later it hit me.
Then I was sick as a dog for a week from the illness.
I thought the virus was a joke, but it wasn’t.

When my wife had covid, I drank at least a case of red wine, two bottles of whiskey, a 12 pack of beer. And likely two cases of diet coke, a case of water.
That was a six day period.
All I did was build things out of wood and day drank.
Didn't get covid.
Best I've got.

My brother used to tell me that germs can't survive in an alcohol rich environment.
