Friend,

In the name of Jesus Christ, I command you to put down that bottle. Your life has meaning and alcohol distorts that meaning. It lies to you and tricks you into becoming something you are not. Fall to your knees and pray to God. Repent. See the path of righteousness and take that path and you will never want to drink again. He will guide you to the way, to the truth, and to the life. Put down the glass or handle and take His hand.

Sincerely,
TulaneLSU

I haven’t heard of anybody considering this before.

The closest thing I can think of is Cooter Brown and how he stayed drunk during the entire Civil War, so he wouldn’t have to fight.

There was the first semester my junior year that an outside observer would have probably thought that was my plan though it wasn't. Thinking back I can see drinking yourself to a quick death would be a shite load of something near work. Ain't nobody got time for that.

I tried before. Your body kinda protects you from it. Vomiting and passing out is your body’s way of stopping you.

Some people should try and give us a play by play. Since you brought it up, I nominate you.

I've only known 2 people who I'd consider that drank themselves to death.

One damn near 50 years ago now who was my age at the time. He was a stone alcoholic by his early 20's and drank daily until he passed out. Early one night he got so drunk the bar owner kicked him out and he laid down in the back seat of a friends car and choked to death on his own vomit.

The second was a friend of mine who started drinking more and more as he got older. After a few episodes of getting so blind drunk that he passed out on the streets and hit his head on the way down, he started having memory loss issues.

I found him dead one Saturday when his sister called me to ask if I'd do a welfare check since he didn't return her calls for over a week. She was living 500 miles away at the time. I found him dead, lying on his back in the hallway of his house and in all likelihood, it was alcohol related. He had been dead about a week by the condition of his body.

Not some way I'd ever consider to be honest.

Nothing but darkness and paralyzing despair at the bottom of those bottles, bro. The pain only gets worse the more you drink.

The good news is that there is a way out that doesn’t involve offing yourself.
