So what happens to your kid at a public school if you don't pay the fee's?

I would say 80 percent of the checks I write are made out to the kids school.

I joked with the wife that I should just get the check printers to go ahead and preprint the school name on the payee line.

Our school just charges everything up front. And I can pay online now. I paid $150 plus a $1 processing fee a couple weeks ago. Took about 3 minutes while in bed on my tablet. This was for all of the fees, supplies, yearbook, and field trip t-shirt. I think the supplies were around $90 of that, and no one in our city has to deal with the back to school supply shopping. Everything she will need for the year is provided in that fee. Yearbook was $20, T-shirt was $10, the rest was other various fees. Other than lunch money, I won't have to deal with again until next August.

After paying $8600 in tuition, fees, etc, etc, we still had to go buy school supplies and send in two boxes of Kleenex.
Stop complaining

We had to pay $1,700 for 2 kids to go to a "public high school" here in New Orleans this week. We should have paid $300 more, but we had to put off paying the "voluntary" "enrichment fee" of $150 per kid until we can work it into our budget.

I don't remember seeing a spread sheet explaining where exactly that "enrichment fund" is getting spent. Maybe it's helping to cover the cost of the $200,000 salary that the school administrator is paid.

No problem with fees, but I'm pissed that teachers are handing out points for paper towels and other supplies. A grade used to mean something. Those of us in the upper echelon don't want you stupid fricks thinking you belong just because you brought paper towels.

I'm curious too because you know every kid isn't going to pay

Getting those kids ready to hand you your value meal, or more getting that refill while you are eating.

Try paying private school fees if you really want to see your wallet take a hit.

This is somewhat akin to "first world problems". Like "tiny public school fee problems".

Your $300 of property taxes that go to your local school is not covering your share of your kid's education. I think all public schools should be privatized. Pay your share and stop making me help pay for your kid's education.

Won't your kids also be sent around later to grub for money in the form of a 'fund raiser?'

I have two kids in daycare right now, so I look forward to paying only a smattering of $10-20 fees.

Kracka Jr is in private school, I did not enjoy writing those checks. But I also love the fact that he isn't going to any public schools in my area.

I know, OT Ballers send their kids to private school in New Hampshire

No. But I do send them to private school in BR. And we have to cut lots of extra checks.
