And that was, logistically, brilliant. The entire theater of war thousands of miles across an ocean with not a single risk to the non military American citizens at home.
And here you are advocating for the battlefield to be our southern fricking border, you psycho. That we could just bomb and drone our way to victory against an "enemy" that is so entwined within our own citizens that we print everything in their language? I'm sure you think they will just sit back and watch? Because we are so effective at only targeting cartel military installations? You're expecting No blowback? No internal legal challenges? No internal insurgency from the millions of US CITIZENS who are having their country of origin bombed under the guise of a failed "war on drugs"?
frick all that nonsense.
Its odd that you guys are willing to send other boys off to die in wars that don't really matter to the average American but are too afraid to fight the threat that actually affects your daily life.

No.
But I do believe drone/missile strikes against cartel targets inside of Mexico (and elsewhere) isn't being unreasonable. The technology and expertise is certainly there. Right now, the only thing missing is the will to carry it out.
Control the animals- or the animals will be controlled.

What's odd is that you think this would be some sort of solution. The US isn't going to go occupy all of northern Mexico for decades to root all of these people out--which is what would be required. And even then, cartels run huge portions of parts of central and southern Mexico too. Even if it were feasible, we can't afford something like that and it would only make the migrant problem worse.
And we also aren't going to fight a war with Mexico, which something like that would certainly lead to.
Having to put half a million troops in Mexico would also put us in a terrible situation should anything pop off in the Pacific.

Haha - you’re an idiot - cartels need taking care of and no one does a damn thing about it - why? A lot of Mexico’s economy is money leaving USA to Mexico. They encourage it. The Mexican government does nothing to stop illegal immigration. I traveled a lot in Mexico and you have no rights and have to pay off numerous people along route as you travel. It one of the most dangerous places to go aboard now. You do you and I will do me.

We should hire Mossad to do it out of Nellis.
In all seriousness, Mexico would throw a shite fit though and the international pressure for doing something like that would overwhelm our resolve to do it effectively.

I tend to be an a-hole, and hold drug users responsible for their own abuses and actions. So, admittedly, I have no stomach for the fight you want. It doesn't really effect my life. And I live just 6 hours from the border.

I'm sure they would, seeing as the cartels are dug into their government like ticks. But the truth is this is like allowing ISIS to live next door. Obviously their violence isn't just happening in Mexico.
It's a massive national security issue for THIS country- and our leadership should stop pretending that it's not. If that makes the international community upset, well..... that would make it even more clear that they don't hold our best interests as a high priority. Which we already know, anyway.

Those of you who are voting for Trump, please understand that these are the kinds of people you're aligning yourselves with. These ideas of bombing Mexico, killing their people indiscriminately, calling them pests and parasites...this verbiage didn't just come out of nowhere. These are ideas and things your candidate says on the regular. Not only says, but tried to do in his previous term (luckily there were some sane people around him who told him no).
there are plenty of people just as nutty on the left bro.

Destabilizing a country of Mexico's size by occupying a third of their territory and starting a civil war type situation wouldn't exactly help national security either.
Can you imagine the amount of Chinese, Russian, Iranian, etc., infiltration there would be into something like that?
Posted on 10/30/24 at 11:24 am to Psych23
The only answer is for the citizens to fix the problem and not run for cover in the US. It starts with voting for capitalism and not promises of being taken care of.

We don't have to imagine. That's already happening. And since we offered them an open border, many of them are here, as well. The cartels are doing China's bidding for them, and that's no huge secret.
But I don't believe occupying Mexico would be the answer- nor would it happen. There are other options. Just my take.

Yes. We should invade and take everything between our current border and Durango. Then we should send all of our illegals into this newly conquered area. Then we should give it back to Mexico as we start construction on a new border wall that, coincidentally, runs along our current border.

Don't disagree. But the democratic candidate for President of the United States isn't echoing the same insane, irresponsible, and disturbing sentiments as the leftwing wackjobs.
