My Land Cruiser is 20 years old and has about 240,000 miles. Other than regular service, a new alternator at about 200k, and a timing belt, I haven’t had to do anything. It’s been perfectly reliable and the drivetrain is as smooth as a new car.

Now, you can say that they are boring but you really can’t question the reliability.

By and large, they are indeed driving appliances. Even the LFA was shunned among supercar buyers because it was too staid—well, everything except the glorious exhaust note. Personally, I would never daily one, but my daily driver priorities are not primarily focused on reliability.

221,000 miles here. Tundra. Just oil changes, breaks, and tires.

Definitely. This will hurt the feelings of the Toyota fanbois and homers but Toyota definitely has its fairshare of problematic vehicles and engines. Toyota peaked in the 1990's to early 2000's for reliability, and most of their vehicles from that era have a deserved reputation for reliability (though even then not perfect). Same for Honda.

he had a Camry that he swore was a tank, "never did nothin' to that car". Never mind that you had to get in the car from the passenger door almost Dukes of Hazard style, never mind that the power windows didn't work on 3 or the 4 windows

I've owned 3high mileage camrys or corollas. They all had issues with the door latches or window motors. Cheap fixes from junkyards.

corolla I drove from 100k to 300k miles. Only issue was that the plug wires would short out every year or so and have to be changed. I paid right at $1k for it since it had heavy body damage, replaced panels with parts from the junkyard and drove a 3 colored car for a few years.

One camry had a starter go out at 220k. Timing chain jumped in the upper 200s and I junked it, should have replaced the motor. I paid 3k for that one at around 130k miles.

Most recent camry had a transmission leak at 300k so I sold it and got a truck. Only issue from 34k miles to when I got rid of it was a fuel pump failure at around 150k miles. Paid around $10k for it. It's currently still on the road.

Only maintenence I did on them was to change the oil, batteries, filters and brakes. Never touched the tranny fluid, plugs, etc. Pretty damn low cost of ownership considering how much I drove them.

All vehicles electronics will eventually wear out baw!

The good part is the motor keeps him mind gets you from point A to point B.

Between my 05 and my 17, I have 415k and all I’ve put on either is tires and brakes.

My mother had a 1995 V6 Camry that had the front passenger door fall off twice from the hinge bolts working loose, this was a brand new car too. My dad had a 1997 SR5 4Runner that let go of a connecting rod at 65k, 100% dealership maintenance so they got to put a new shortblock in it.

I'm not a Yota hater, but most of the previous posters are mentioning about older Toyotas. Agreeably, back in the day they was the goat....nowadays, I'm not so sure

My 2019 TRD off-road has 190k on it. All I’ve done is brake jobs, oil change and replaced the tires

Hondas and Toyotas brother. If you want a life with less worries. Or Lexus if you got OT funds.

I work for an auto group that has several new car stores, including Toyota, and each store has a service facility, including Toyota. All of our service departments have plenty of work, warranty & customer pay, including Toyota. So, if they never broke, never needed a tow, why would Toyota require us to have a service department, stock certain parts at all times, and have service loaner vehicles??

Toyota's reliability speaks for itself. Their dependability is not overrated or exaggerated one bit. Toyota's are the real deal! Minimal service is generally required. Great value for the money.

I have a Toyota. And I agree that owners inflate their reliability.

My Toyota is a great vehicle. But it only has 40,000 miles…..so it has a long way to go to outlast and outlive the best vehicle I’ve ever owned, which was a Chevy Silverado.

I’ve had great luck with GM trucks, Honda cars, Toyotas.

My brother in law just bought a new GMC pickup, it was his first new vehicle in his life. Drove clunkers forever and finally in a position to get a new car. Air went out at 5k, transmission already has issues 11k in.

Been eyeing the new GMC Elevations.

Guess I'll stick with my Ford

I have a 2003 Tundra. Just normal routine maintenance. Eng. still runs great and the Interior is in good shape.
