Yeah, looks like I’m no longer middle class, and I lost big deductions this year.

Mine went down over 3k or so.

Have always itemized but now I take the standard deduction.

You aren’t paying for people. You’re paying for things.

Judging by my anecdotal evidence your situation is pretty rare

ETA: this brag thread could've used more subtlety

These tax laws expire in 2023, but the corporate tax laws don't expire

No, you subsidized much larger tax cuts for folks who make millions of dollars per year. Oh, and corporations.

Don't worry, we've been hearing for 39 years that that money you're giving to the rich will eventually trickle back down...I'm sure it will happen any year now. Be a little more patient.

We normally get some money back from federal and state. Have owed in the past and would rather they take out more and get a small refund.

This year we owe for federal and are getting a much smaller refund from our state. But at least the refund will cover our federal tax bill and still leave us $500.

I was a little bummed. Was expecting our usual refund and was gonna pay off some debts with it.

Btw, you seriously fricked up somewhere btw. I’m in a high tax state and last year I didn’t have to pay half that.

You made 60 and paid 18 in federal? No chance. You need a CPA.

Yeah that can't be right.

He must be thinking of EVERYTHING taken out of his check. Federal, state, etc.

Slow down. You should be paying under 10 in federal worst case. They hit you for 8 for lapsed health insurance?

If he’s SE, then the extra social security might explain some of it.
