I see what you mean. Let me try expanding a little on what I was attempting to describe.
I could become a bank robber and “do things right”, but it would not be “doing right things.”
In other words, one could be incredibly competent at things that are not necessarily “right.” They would be doing “wrong” things “right.”

Not just kids being greedy, but parents leaving things inequitably that causes friction. (Like leave big share to the ne’er-do-well because the other adult kids "don’t need it.") Sometimes it would be better to leave it all to St Jude!
I think a person has a right to do what they want with their own money. However, if you have 5 kids, and all five are decent folks, why not leave it split 5 ways? Trying to fine tune it and say the teacher needs more than the Dr. can, and will, cause hard feelings in many cases. Also, skipping your own kids and making grandkids heirs is another way to stir up shite after you are gone. It takes a strong family to weather lopsided distribution, no matter how well intentioned it is.

This thread is beyond depressing. I guess I am lucky to have two parents that are amazing people. So amazing that I purchased the house next door to there home. They raised four kids who turned out to be successful adults.
Recently my father told me that each of us will receive a large inheritance when he is gone (he is only 65) to my reply was spend every last penny you have enjoying life. There is no reason to leave a penny for me at all and that's the way money should be handled. enjoy your life, i don't need your money, I will make my own way.

I'm not on speaking terms with my god daughter, mainly because i missed her out of state wedding due to a surgery I had scheduled before she scheduled her wedding. She refuses to talk to me now. Oh well

Did you miss the part where they had been divorced thirty years and the father had remarried?

Thanks but no need for the diatribe. I was replying to the guy saying everyone in that thread lived in the trailer park and were white trash.

I did not mean it to be hurtful.
You’ve done great.
I’m glad you worked hard and improved your lot.
I think you would have been good at whatever you chose to work at is what I think.
