Anyone else more of a gift giver than a gift receiver?

I don't know if it's just my personality, but I get so much more joy seeing people open gifts and being happy, than opening gifts myself.

I'm the type of person that just buys what I want or need throughout the year and I really don't like being the focus of gift opening.

But I LOVE getting people stuff that they want and watching them open those gifts. For family and friends, I typically pay close attention throughout the year to things that they want, and if I can afford it, that's what they get.

Is this all that strange?

You sound like a Christmas Hallmark movie.

As I've gotten older I have started to prefer giving gifts much more that receiving them. It means even more if it is something I made for someone, or an unusual gift they aren't expecting.

me too...I am beyond pumped to watch my wife open what I got her... not sure what she got me but don't really care. I also don't want for much except bourbon and I know what specific bottles I want, very few others do so theres that

This is what I mean. I listen all year for things that they want and could be something random. Doesn't have to be expensive. And I'll get that.

I much prefer to give gifts than receive. Not much can beat the feeling when someone opens a very thoughtful gift and you can see the real joy in their face

My kids seem to think this too, pro tip, just buy them something they want instead, they’ll like it more

Is this where the “I’m holier than thou” line is?

6 “Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.

2 “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

The Lord's Prayer

5 “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
