I don't have depression, my wife does, sometimes severe. I don't think I am smart enough to understand depression or smart enough to be depressed. It seems to affect intelligent people.

I do know this. You are here on this earth for a reason, you may not know why, but you are. If you were no longer here it would leave a hole in someone's life, probably multiple someone's. Please reach out for help.

I've never been diagnosed but I definitely sometimes I think I experience it more than I should. As stupid as it may sound, this website has really helped me at times with all the laughs it's given me. From starting stupid threads when I was a dumb college student to trolling people about the misfortunes about their favorite sports team, this message board is the gift that keeps on giving.

Don't be afraid to talk to someone or seek professional help. A lot more people care than you may think at times

This perspective suggests that while the logic and justification for faith may not be immediately apparent in the present moment, its validity and meaning become clear only when looking back at past events after they have unfolded.

You are trusted with the act of holding on and persevering, as better times are ahead, to be revealed in an unsuspecting moment.

Talk with someone throughout the night.
You need to see the morning light.

No but buddy of mine has it real bad. Totally lost his spark for life. I truly believe a lot of these "treatment resistance depression cases" are young people with Alzheimer's but nobody believes it's Alzheimers because they're young.

It's mind boggling how with all the money thrown at Alzheimer's research they've made zero progress in treating it or even acurately diagnosing it while a person is still alive. CTE same thing.

Yes I deal with it everyday and some days are worse than others.
Did you have a bad day today? I had a terrible day today. I had to have my pet of several years euthanized today but I made it through so far and so can you. Let's talk OK I'm here for you. Anything you want to talk about is alright by me. Hit me.

I already committed soft suicide January 13 2025. A month ago out of the blue I was reinstated here. I am so glad I didn’t do a hard suicide.

Therapist here. You’re not alone in your struggle and you don’t have to fight this alone. Also, you’re not “weak” for feeling that way and, most importantly, it’s not a sign of weakness to reach out for help.

I think as men we often feel that we have to prove we are “strong” to ourselves and others, but we lose sight of the fact that one greatest signs of strength is to be able to admit to yourself that you are struggling. This is a serious topic and I want you to treat it that way. Us baws on the OT are here for you but please listen to everyone’s responses encouraging you to talk to someone. Sending thoughts and prayers your way. You can do this.

Uhh. Therapy 100%. Likely some micro dosing to start along with general mental/physical health measures and guidelines. You don’t have to be like this. Seek it.

It’s a tough battle that I unfortunately understand. Psychiatrist, regular therapy, and meds are the place to start. Try to keep good habits like regular exercise, time outside (my mood got measurably better with daily walks), good sleep hygiene, socialize when you can with friends or family, once a week if possible. This is all evidence based. For refractory depression or suicidal ideation I can’t recommend ketamine enough. There’s an intranasal formulation approved for resistant cases. There’s also a new med many don’t know about called Auvelity. Unlike SSRI meds it starts working very quickly, without a several week delay. Good luck, you’re not alone.
