Who cares if they are getting paid? If they got shitty pay they’d stay with their families and friends and let us sweat. They are skilled workers in a dangerous environment, these aren’t McDonald’s workers, of course they demand high pay
People here arent even picking their own yards up.
Drove through greenleaves in mandeville and some of those yards look like shite. Like get out there and at least lick your fence up so it doesn't kill your grass.

First I was unaffected and do not live in the area (I did come to LA to help last week) but I see the problem being more with your local governments.
Hurricanes are something that LA has always had to deal with. I dont understand why your local governments dont have a place lined up for the linemen to setup. I would think a school or even a fire station, hell even an agreement with a private individual who owns a warehouse or some other location.
Anyplace that has running water for showers and a dry place to sleep. Does not have to be the four seasons but after working in your heat and humidity for 12-15 hours I know I could do a better job the next day if I had not slept in my truck and showered from a garden hose.

I can’t confirm this myself but I’ve read several places that their normal places are taken up with illegals. I’m definitely not taking up for local or state governments. They absolutely suck.

I used to work with a lineman who had an unhealthy fixation on Shania Twain.

Well you are wrong. Yes, we get paid good to go on storm. But no, we don’t get paid per diem. They feed us and wash our clothes. A lot of times we sleep in our trucks, or in a 18 wheeler trailer with 35 other men. So yeah, I think it’s pretty important to recognize us. Because without us, you wouldn’t have lights for a long time.

mean shite can the people who actually had damage and lost nearly their whole lives get some attention. I
Did you? If not, shut your fricking pie hole. How bout just saying “ thanks”.
You’re a pathetic human being if all you can take away from this is who’s getting the most attention.

Well they are getting the full attention of all those linemen who have come to Louisiana from afar to restore the power.

They replaced my line drop from pole to the house today, taken out by an oak tree. Professional, courteous and friendly.
They moved and replaced my temp dog fence to back the bucket truck near the pole at the end of my backyard driveway. Would not let me help.
Both from Arkansas, we talked a bit about the fantastic duck hunting up there, they’re country boys living out in the woods. Good men, politely declined the cold water, cokes and beer I offered. They thought about the beer though lol.
Without reservation, they deserve all the accolades and thanks we can offer. Which I gratefully did.
You sure picked a chicken shite thing to complain about.

Yes, they are making bank. But when you don’t have power, you don’t give a frick.

Those guys are fricking your wives while you're gone.

Have heard this, but how much is bank? What does a lineman make that does this kind of stuff?

They’re making bank. I appreciate them too because I’m making less than them but still banking it lol

Just the way it is man. Teachers, Farmers, Lineman, Cops, and Nurses are the only ones who work hard because they want to serve the community. Everyone else just works for money.

You think they are seeking attention by doing their jobs and restoring your power?
Posted on 9/11/21 at 8:29 pm to gsvar2004
You sound jealous. You too can be a lineman you know. Go get yourself a set of gaffs and some rigging and go climb a few poles. (Wooden ones, that aren’t attached to another dude.)

As long as they aren't making tik toks I'm fine

SARCASM: God help us that the nation gives praise and adulation of the working man. We should focus our adoration on bloggers with blank-studies degrees.
