C3?!??! That’s the best one, just based on looks.

95% of sports car owners will never even approach the limit of performance of today's cars.
"Magazine numbers" = a cars potential = potential driving experience.
You're correct with regards to handling but the vast majority of sports car owners have gone full throttle at least once. Here most Porsches, especially the entry level ones, fall way behind.

I’d have to see the front end view. My aesthetic issue with the new Vettes is I don’t like the look from the front.

ehhh. I'd rather thrash a lower powered car than baby a monster that's always trying to kill me.

Street tires have come a long way, we live down south. No need for all seasons. Get some summer rubber and you'll be safe pushing a lot more power a lot more harder.
But I can relate somewhat. While a 9 second car is faster, the mid 10 to low 11 second cars are more fun to drive on the street.

That front end is hideous
It looks like someone with braces told to SMILE!!! in their family picture.
Reminds me of this guy from Men in Black:

I like my corvettes to look like:

But that's just me.
I like the disappearing headlight look.

I'm more talking about the insane numbers cars like the hellcats/demons/trackhawks of the world.

When they work, they are cool. The early C3's had a nightmare vacuum system that operates the headlight extend/retract and the wiper door. The system has multiple actuators, relay switching valves, check valves, reservoir tank and a mile of hoses. I have been lucky with mine and only a stuck relay valve needed replacing, but I have heard many frustrated owners complaining about the reliability.

It's also significantly slower.
significantly ?? possibly but probably not .5 sec?.. if you believe Chevrolet's claims of times, ask the Z06 owners in the new class action suit against Chevy that their Z06 Corvettes not only DO NOT deliver performance advertised.... the cars go into "Limp Mode' after just 15 minutes of track time. This is what I was trying to say, ...what Chevy is "trying" to do for 10 or 15 minutes without seizing up... a Porsche can actually deliver and do it all day long, every day, and remain as reliable, if not more reliable than any other car made.
Look I'm a dyed in the wool American Muscle Car student and disciple. My first car was a 1965 GTO Convertible and I've had many others since, Mustangs, Corvettes, Dodge big blocks, etc.. . I still have to concede that we simply cannot build anything that will compete with a Porsche...Period. They've owned the supercar realm for decades and always will.
Regardless of Corvettes questionable times... you really can't understand the difference between a Porsche until you drive them. You could clock 0-60 in 2.5 seconds in a logwagon with the right power. I said it before, until I drove a Porsche...I just didn't get it. 0-60 and even track handling times can be meaningless... it's how the car (or log-wagon) behaves, handles, feels, acts, performs, etc... while it's getting there...(and if it stays in one piece without seizing up like a Corvette Z06) I promise if you drive the two, there is no comparison with the German car vs. the American. I wish it weren't so but they've just got too many years of racing experience and expertise to compete with. Their cars are consistently in the top 2 or most reliable cars on the road while the Chevy's are "trying" to perform like a supercar are burning up all over the country...and a lot of pissed off owners are suing, too.
What Porsche is doing with the E hybrid technology is again, in a class of their own and while we are trying to catch up, they are just widening the gap. Check out the YouTube vids for their 2018 Porsche 918 Spyder.

Yes. Significantly.
Straight line, Nürburgring, etc.

The Boxster isn't a supercar. Sorry bout it.
I get it. You like your Porsche. It's still slow.

The problem here is that you’re comparing the Porsche to a Z06, but the Porsche you’d need for Z06 speed would be a 911Turbo, which costs double the price. If you’re comparing to a 911or a Cayman S, then the regular Vette with the Z51 package is in the same speed category and at a much better price. And the regular (non-Z06) Vette has none of the overheating issues. Most Vette fanatics on the forums will tell you outright that a regular Z51 is a better track day car than a Z06.
I’ve owned a 911 Carrera and a C7 Vette w/Z51 package, and I’ve put both on the track (NOLA Motorsports). I was faster in the Vette. Now with a professional driver who can push a car to its limits on the track, the Porsche is probably better. However, I’m not just some spode who coasted around the track - I raced motocross for 6 years and did 18 trackdays on a motorcycle before starting car track days, so I know my way around a track and push it more than your average driver. For me, the useable power the Vette has just made me faster on the straights and accelerating out of turns, so my lap times were much better. And both cars were manuals, so the rev matching in my Vette helped my corner entry speed as well. Likewise, the Vette was a MUCH more fun daily driver. SO much torque and power. And for the record, I’ve been a Porsche guy since I was a kid and still am. But I enjoyed the Vette more. But I’ll still probably choose a 911 when I go back to a sports car soon.
I won’t argue the fact that 10 years down the road the Porsche will hold up better, but most people who are buying these types of cars don’t keep a car long enough for issues to arise. I’ve bought 5 cars in the past 4 years, and the longest I’ve kept any of them is a year and a half.

A lot of bang for the buck. I dont see any better sport car options for 50K.
So true. I bought my kid a ‘17 Mustang GT California Special. It has 435 hp, whereas my Vette had around 455. Driving both, you’d swear the Vette had 100 hp more than the Mustang. Night and day difference. The Stang set me back around $42K - you can get a new ‘17 Vette for around $48K right now.

Regular Vette or Z06? Because I loved the ride of my Vette. Comfortable and the most fun I’ve had driving any car in my lifetime. Loved the interior design too - it was like sliding into a cockpit (the jet fighter kind, not the glory hole kind).

Corvettes are great machines...but I couldn't bring myself to drive one.
Unfortunately, like a mustang or camaro will always be a mustang or camaro, a corvette is still a corvette.
