I've been checking them out recently, and curious to see what others have paid for one in the New Orleans area.

Not looking for a Sahara or Rubicon.
I'm looking for a 4 dr hard top with the 24s package.

TIA

A new Wrangler should be ~$20K

But you will probably pay ~$30K

You can tell we are in the middle of the two weeks out of the year when having a Jeep in S. La. can seem appealing.

I've been all over the place in regards to purchasing a vehicle lately.

I have a truck that's used for truck stuff that still runs well and it's been paid off for 6 yrs.

New trucks are too expensive and I don't need one. I thought about a car, but these NOLA streets are unforgiving and I'm used to driving around in a truck so I don't want to start dodging potholes .

I test drove a Wrangler and the ride was not as bad as others have mentioned. I don't plan on off roading, and won't add lift kits or huge tires

I am in north la. I bought my 13 sahara new. No one in this area would deal I even checked south la. Prices were high. I drove all the way to augusta ga and it saved me 10k from a dealer about 30 miles away. saved me 6k from dealer 45 miles away. if your willing to drive you will save money.

Then why buy a 4wd vehicle made for off-roading?

Everyone's thought when first buying a jeep.

Seriously. It's terrible for gas mileage and a pretty rough riding vehicle. That being said, I LOVE mine. But if you are using it to haul family or mall crawl then it probably isn't for you.

What about an Audi S5 Cabriolet?

I think I've been bitten by the bug.

because I like how they look and I don't like anything else out there in the 30 to 35k price range. I thought about the grand cherokee, but it feels smaller than the wrangler.

I've been researching them for a solid 4 months and dealers are pretty tight on prices . Best deal I found was around 33k, and that was in Houston and NOLA.

The online search has been frustrating because dealers "make mistakes" with the vehicles they post on their websites . I learned early on to ask them for the vehicle sticker on the vehicle VIN. At least half of the time the picture of the vehicle doesn't match the sticker of the VIN listed .

Nothing wrong with that. There are a lot of lightly used 4doors that are out there from people that bought a jeep because they liked the way they looked. They drove them for 6 months and traded them back in.

I would recommend looking into one of these instead of paying out the arse for a brand new one. They are likely to sell a bunch in the fall/spring due to nice weather so don't expect them to come off the price. The new body style should be out soon so the JKs will be old news.

They hold their value pretty well, I didn't pay much more for a brand new one than what they were asking for one that was a couple years older.
