My wife is a nurse at a hospital in BR and a few months ago the former owner (or manager?) of Mako's and the Keg was one of her patients. I was flabbergasted to find out that both places had the same owner.
I remember doing some dumb shite like drinking 15 hurricanes at Mako's because a buddy drank 13.
A good friend was going to Louisiana-Lafayette, my dad got his master's there and I had family in Lafayette....but I know if I had gone to school there in the early 90s, I would have flunked out. Went to LSU instead and made a shitload of Bs and Cs.

I never made it to the Kingfish, but I heard tales...guys doing blow off the hoods of parked cars.

Yesssssssssss. More Makos. Snuck into the keg a few times

Makos was MY shite for a couple years early 90s. They played the freestyle music(think Stevie B and Noel) I loved(still do) and had $5 all the beer and hurricane's you can drink on Friday nights.

Man I loved that place.
Used to bump into chicks all the way from Houston who would come there for a weekend to party it up where drinking age was 18.

My first trip to the Keg was sometime in 1974- I was 15.

Not sure how long it had been open even back then.

No, I'm from the BR area, moved to Laf to go to USL and DJ nightclubs. He used to own DMC Record Store in LFT. Used to buy records from him and he taught me a lot about mixing records.

Great guy.

There ya go. 50 cent PBR drafts, Pops at the end of the bar, and underage gals all night long.

A wretched hive of scum and villainy.

RIP Jere' Guidry.
