An old landman once told me you don't steal money unless it is all you will ever need after you steal it. There isn't that much money, he continued.

Not Campus Federal. WAFB made that correction to the story known.

That is solid advice, but these people do it once with ease then they start thinking "well, I did it once. Let me do it just one more time". Then they keep doing it "one more time" until they get caught.. If you continue to take money out of the same pot, at some point it will get noticed.
Does anyone ever watch American Greed?

I know some landmen who were buying minerals in an area they were supposed to be leasing. I think they "stole" enough not to work anymore though.

Interesting that this involved a $20 million dollar project on Canal Street and the Feds were tipped off.
Authorities with the Baton Rouge Police Department say a project manager of a $20 million renovation project has been arrested for allegedly wiring over $500,000 from a local bank, along with others in the United States.
....notified by the Secret Service about suspicious activity on the accounts of a $20 million project in New Orleans, which started the investigation. Reich was a project manager on that project, based on Canal Street.
This case was brought to the Baton Rouge Financial Crimes Division by the U.S. Secret Service, after being alerted by a local bank. This case is being reviewed by the United States Secret Service – Louisiana, Seattle and Washington Office, U.S. Postal Inspection Service in Seattle, Washington, Dallas and Texas.
Sounds like there there maybe some public corruption involved in this case......
