I think you can say, more than any other restaurant, COVID and Bucees have really hurt Cracker Barrel.

Never really went to Cracker Barrel that much but like others it was usually a road trip stop. Bucees has truly taken their place as the road trip stop for people traveling in the south.

Besides that, since COVID, for the ones I've been to, both the quality of the food has gone down and the service has gone down. Last few times it's taken forever to get food. The food also just isn't what it was. I used to absolutely love their Mac n Cheese and Dumplings, not it's 50/50 if the Dumplings are even warm.

With their costs now I'd rather go to Bucees to use the restroom or get a quick brisket sandwich or snacks. If I want good breakfast food, I'll go to Waffle House.

Yeah, it just isn't good anymore. The quality of their food, not that it is prepared poorly, seems to have just gone downhill like they have chosen the absolute cheapest option for every single ingredient. It ain't what it once was.

My 95 year old dad wanted to eat there the day we went.

He had to see his cardiologist at 7:30 yesterday morning, so we didn't eat breakfast until afterwards. I live in Ruston. We don't have an IHOP. That's where my dad wanted to go. I'm 65. At 9:30 yesterday morning, I was 10 years younger than anyone else eating there.

I find this is entirely dependent upon the location

They can vary from location to location.

Ate at one a year ago on a road trip. I could barely get it down and I'm not that picky. Food was horrible. My friend ordered a hamburger and didn't eat it. Tasted weird. Won't go back. I miss the chicken fried steak

Yes.

Whenever I drive up to hunt in the morning I stop to take a dump in a Hampton Inn lobby then eat breakfast at the cracker barrel next door.

This. Especially if you are in the BR area. Franks for the win. Waffle House is a better option if travelling the south. Plus you might get to see a ghetto fight.

My last couple of experiences were pretty rough, but it could have been the location (Atlanta).

Then again, even the CEO agrees that they’ve gotten stale.

But nothing is as bad as Waffle House. Y’all Waffle House eaters have done lost your minds.

It has fallen off at a pace I’ve never before seen a restaurant do. Everything is awful now. Biscuits, chicken, breakfast, etc… the employees are shite, food is shite, it’s usually dirty, the parking lots have trash blowing around. It’s just not what it used to be at all.

Nope. Waho or nothing for breakfast sit down. Cracker Barrel is insanely priced now and portions smaller than ever

Eta: unless I’m craving chicken n dumplings and I’m close to one.

Out of all the places to eat, I don’t think I’ve ever craved to go and ear at a Cracker Barrel

Literally just ate there tonight because my kids and parents wanted to go. Never a bad experience but not somewhere I'd go for a great meal

Utterly dependent on location; I live less than 10 miles from 2 of them, one of them is absolute dogwater now, after being a solid spot for a decade.

The other is completely unchanged, and is still a pretty good breakfast experience.

The same is also true of Waffle Houses. Breakfast food is hard to get completely wrong, though.

Pancakes are still money. The one we go to up here in Ga is still pretty solid. I remember going to Cracker Barrell when they were just starting up.

Few times a year because the kids can all be happy there, some with breakfast and others with fried chicken. I just get the fried chicken, it's usually pretty good.
