I started teaching at 30. I left ebr schools 3 years ago. I was making 46k with 8 years experience. I now work at a charter school and make 53k. I teach 4 weeks of summer school as well for another 3k. 56k a year with huge vacations.

It's awesome! Where do you get "25k"? Lol

I make 54k with 8 years and a master's degree, plus I only work 182 days out of the year and rotate welding/traveling each summer. All in I make close to 65k when I work during the summers.

Nice. What type of school / grade do you teach?

I did and hated it. Went back into the workforce making more money with less stress.

I did. Took a pay cut but couldn't be happier. I'm fortunate to work in a great charter school - in Louisiana.

Public schools here in Louisiana,if you have not noticed, are about to give their last Death Rattle. Look at Point Coupee Parish.

Yea it was nice to get off at 3 but when you coach, you practice till 5.
When I graduated high school in 1977, assistant coaches only got paid $50.00 more a month than teachers that did no extracurricular activities. You had to love it to do it. After I transferred from LSU to NLU, I was a volunteer assistant, and acted as the defensive coordinator, for my high school. Had a blitzes that we called "Rouge" and "Grinnell". Loved doing it, but wanted to make money, and come back to it. Looked up and I was already in my fifties. Figured I'd gotten too old to get back into it.

Why not? I make enough that I don't live paycheck to paycheck, I'll never be rich unless I finish my book and it becomes a best seller
