I'm 6'5 and tore my hamstring freshman year of high school football. I never let it fully heal and favored the other hamstring during basketball season. So that put too much strain on both of them. So now I'm 33 with 2 bad hamstrings. Good luck but if you're active they will never fully heal.

All those injuries were on the same leg, the other leg is good to go! Hence the name. I guess I could be a porn star or in the mafia, but sadly I'm just old.

I forgot what grade mine was, but I had a tear at the top also...right where the leg meets the arse. R&R and physical therapy was prescribed. It took a solid 2 weeks before I stopped walking with a limp/or could straighten my leg out.

Anyone who tears their hamstring playing adult softball is hardly "active"...

Completely ruptured achilles and tore gracilis. Both sucked. Achilles is fine because of surgery, but gracilis is still fricked up. When I tore it, there was a lot of bruising. Remember to stretch before dropping in to a split!

If its a grade two that means its probably a partial thickness tear. Luckily Hamy injuries rarely need surgery but thatll be up to your doctor to decide.

You're best bet is to just stay off of it for a good while and try to maintain simple ROM without pushing it.

Tore a pec bench pressing about 12 years ago and it's still not right. Can't push very heavy weight anymore. Tore a quad 2 years ago doing sprints and that shite was scary. I could hear it even with my headphones in. Leg was bruised and took about 3-4 months before I could even really do body weight squats again.

Back in my track & field days I tore mine in the 400 meter. My dad came out and helped me finish the race to a standing ovation. One of the most memorable experiences of my life

That is a very deep area. Bruising may take awhile to show or even not look that bad as it gets pulled toward the foot.

One of the greatest benefits of being completely non-athletic is the lack of ability to do something energetic enough to tear a hamstring.

A couple years after a bad tear, I went to a physical therapist who massaged the resulting scar tissue down, and it's been ok ever since.

The massage felt like it was tearing all over again, but it really helped.

I actually strained mine for the first time ever yesterday doing yard work (non-active, dad bod these days). Felt a sudden pop/shock of pain, but no bruising and I can walk. Pretty sore this morning. Would this be considered just a grade 1, take it easy kind of thing? Or is there risk of making it worse if it was just pulled?

So you tore it, felt the pop and everything and we're back walking normal after 3 days?

No. Wasn't able to walk at all without crutches for three days. After that was able to get put a little weight on it and limp around, but was quite a while till I could walk normally again.
