had it....sedentary job, lack of exercise
need to walk, 20min does a good job, brisk walk too
if you can do the 5 tibetans or just regular calisthetics
like bend and twist, trunk twist, leg lifts open and close
jumping jacks, arm rolls, pushups, you'll shape up in no time

I do today. Was walking to my car from a restaurant night before last. Went across a grassy area, put my foot in a hole, and dropped like a rock. Actually went to ER this morning because of back pain. They xrayed me and confirmed no disc damage, but a pulled muscle instead. Hurts like hell and I feel like a dipshit for tripping on a hole.
That being said, get checked for kidney stones.

See a chiropractor for a spine/vertebrae adjustment. Worked for me after the first time I had a shooting pain. The next day I could not straighten up and took me 10 mins to be able to sit down in the front seat of my car. Got adjusted and walked erect out of the chiropractor's office.

Go see an osteopathic physician that practices manual medicine.

Mine went out 2 days ago. I was just getting out of my car. Mine hurts right at the base of my back. I've been taking IP and started on my inversion table yesterday. I'm about 90% better right now.

Rest, heating pad, start doing McKenzie exercises/stretches. It can take 7-10 days to work it out. Sharp pain should be gone after 48-72 hours.

Could always be worse imagine if you lived in the Chicago right now.
That cold wind gets in your bones terrible aches when you start to warm up.

I have two fractures between my L4 and L5.
Flared up on me this weekend. Been pain killers and exercises to manage through it.
At 32 I'm not looking forward to this shite.
Yep..i'm 25 and had a herniated disc at L5 and a bulging disc at L4 along with pretty severe spinal stenosis in that area. Had a laminectomy about 8 years ago that made the pain virtually subside completely. But this summer was doing some heavy lifting like a dumbass and the pain is excruciating, although this time i don't think it's the disc. When i sit down the pain is off the charts bad, but when i walk/run a lot it really feels 10x better. I did an intense 2x a day elliptical machine session and the pain was gone in like 3 weeks. However I hurt it again lifting something in an awkward position.

Frick back pain. Frick it

I have had to deal with back pain for years.
Nothing really wrong with back that doctors can see.
Having pain pills and muscle relaxers on standby are beneficial.
Mckenzie exercises usually get me back within minutes of pain/spasms. I wish I had discovered them years ago.

Stretch hammies and psoas
Posted on 11/29/15 at 1:15 pm to Soup Sammich
When you can you need to stretch your back.
Sit down and cross your legs. Lean forward and stretch, then pull that knee to the opposite shoulder (right knee to left shoulder).
Then do the other leg. If that doesn't help it's likely pulled muscle, disc or stones.

Ice it everyday, even after pain goes away. I started seeing a chiropractor regularly and he says that you ice almost any muscle issue.
Lose the spare tire, ( it's not just the wife that adds weight during a pregnancy).
Stretching is also a must. I started yoga. DDP yoga. It's a little bit more masculine then your grandmas yoga.

Anyone who answers yes to having back trouble also answer the following questions:
How fat are you?
How often do you exercise (weights and cardio)?

That's the worst advice I've ever heard...you NEVER ice a muscle injury after 30 minutes post injury. You need moist heat.
Edit: I have 18 yrs of medical background....warm conpress.
