no major holidays coming up anytime soon so I won't see them for a while
maybe this is the issue... that y'all only ever even try to see them is major holidays on top of having the attitude that it is a chore and you don't want to.... I'm 99% positive that they can sense the fact that y'all don't want to spend time with them if y'all feel that way...

Just being devil's advocate here

My husband (and his sister) have tried many times to plan stuff with them. Each time his mom has some excuse why she can't go. They absolutely refuse to drive to Scottsdale to visit us cause it's "too far" (they live 25-30 minutes away). But if we offer to come visit them some random weekend..it is always the same. It's "not a good time" for them.

The day we got engaged we surprised his parents on our way home to tell them. They seemed annoyed that we had dropped in unannounced (even though they were not doing anything but watching tv at home).

You simply can't win with them.

par for the course... some people will be all up in other poster's shite while posting half assed personal shite but won't answer small questions that really aren't that big a deal

I've just noticed she is never ever include in his stories like a decade ago she may have been

Like him going to concerts in the handicap section. Or working from home and only having to deal with/be destracted by the couple dogs he has, etc.

I know these types.... sounds like the mom wears the pants and probably makes the dad's life living hell.

I'm so freaking glad I have an absolute amazing family, both immediate and extended.... with most of my cousins, we are all closer than majority of siblings I know. And uncles are all like dads to us all.... it's almost all men in our family and every single weekend (especially football season it's goes down both Sat and Sun) all the guys get together at someone's house and cookout and drink and visit. Always no less than 10 guy relatives hanging out at anytime. This is 50+ weekends a year.... family is great in the south east and can't be beat

Not really drama, but my mother in law wanted to go to a restaurant that was letting moms eat free.

We got there at 11:30 and the place was fairly empty. Seeing this, I made the excellent call to order cheap. Everyone ordered steak or seafood and complained about their meal being bad. My total bill was $12.

I think he retired due to health reasons a few years back. They sent him back to the field at one point, and kinda down here from there. If I recall correctly.

As stated in a thread I actually started about it...

Tried to drown all my loved ones in a horrific near boating accident.

But yikes....what a fricking nightmare. I had to keep biting my tongue to not say "seriously...you think this is something worth getting THIS fricking upset over??? My parents have been dealing with shite a million times worse and you don't see them freaking out over how holidays are spent. They are grateful for any time they get to spend with family."
I thought you left B R a few years ago -

I know a few of yall had to have some drama go down.

yes, I took my mother out to lunch, the orange juice in her mimosa was not fresh squeezed, she wrecked shop, spit tobacco juice at the bartender, and started flicking her cigarette butts a him, it took a while to calm her down
