Take a pass.
Stayed there, would not stay again.

If you’ve been to Vegas a lot it’s a fun time for a weekend. Great pool scene, solid casino, usually have entertainment year round, and the rooms are comparable to others. But to me it’s just too far from everything.

I had a "friend" that told me he took some LSD and woke up in the flower beds outside the Vegas Hard Rock. He was allegedly deprived of all his wallet/cash by a group of very pretty girls sometime during the long, long psychedelic night.
He eventually had to call his wife to send him money and only after that did a cab company call him to say they found his wallet and all his credit cards. His wife at home wasn't happy. All this happened to my friend many years ago and it is the truth.
Allegedly.

I wouldn’t stay there unless it was in one of the towers. Run of mill rooms are average. Love the property though

Never stayed there, but was at Harrah's for SHOT Show this year, those rooms were a dump... FWIW

Outside of going to the pool, I would pass on the HardcRock.
the last time I went to Indian Wells tennis tournament I did the priceline thing where you don't know the hotel until after you book. turned out to be hard rock palm springs. it was just me and my 12 year old daughter. she was all excited to go to the pool. when we got there it was like a scene straight out of mtv spring break. over 100 20 somethings partying at the pool with music thumping. we went straight to our room and never did make it to the pool. we were slightly out of place

It was an amazing Southern California silicone scene when I went to the pool once 10-15 years ago. I think The Palms took that over for a while, then it went to the Cosmopolitan and some others.
Palms and Hard Rock are pretty comparable, and both were really popular at the same time. Only problem is they are both off the strip. At one point, they had 2 of the most popular night clubs in Vegas. Now places such as Cosmo and Encore took over that scene.

Plenty of people have but not for much longer. It will be closing in order to convert to Virgin Hotels. It will close in late summer and reopen in spring 2020 like you mention.
this makes so much more sense. i was there for a conference last week and ran in the mornings a couple of times. I went down Harmon to UNLV-midtown to run around campus one morning and saw Hard Rock... then ran north all the way to downtown and saw another sign for Hard Rock up there. dots are connected. I guess the new one is by Trump/Mirage/Treasure Island?
and from walking through tons of casinos... Harrah's, Planet Hollywood, and Hard Rock are pretty dated. Encore, Cosmopolitan, and Aria are much more modern... but also not my jam.

Virgin Hotels
Once I stay there they’ll have to rename it to just “Hotels”

It is off the strip quite a ways. Rick Allen’s comeback footpedal drum set and Tupac’s last bullet free outfit were on display. All I got.
