All I know is that all the good looking women hide behind the trees out there.

The around 191/Faudree isn’t terrible if you are dead set on living in Odessa. There’s a few decent restaurants there, mostly chains, but it could be much worse. I’ve never had an issue with safety or anything in that area, which you definitely can’t say for other parts of Odessa.

The commute from Midland isn’t bad if you live on the western side of town (like near the ballpark) depending on where in Odessa work is. Living in Odessa is definitely cheaper if it’s only 6 months

I'm sure lots of people have.

The internet says there's approximately 120,000 people living there right now.

I didn’t live in Odessa, but I spent a few years in Midland before Covid, working for one of the "big 4" oil & gas service companies. Honestly, it would take an extremely lucrative salary for me to ever consider moving back. If you do decide to settle in Midland, I’d recommend living on the north side near the mall off the 250 loop. Everything you need is close by, like grocery stores, bars, restaurants, etc.

Yes, or invest in a water filter

the bad

Housing in Midland/Odessa is ridiculously overpriced, and the area can feel pretty monotonous after a while. There's not much variety, and it can start to feel a bit isolated, especially if you're used to more vibrant cities.

The Rockhounds games are a lot of fun if you're into baseball. Catching a high school football game is a must, it really is a religion in those parts. Me and my ex (no pics) also really enjoyed the Jackalopes hockey games in Odessa.

Hope this helps

My BiL did a stint in Odessa while working for an oil company. He finally just bought a trailer and lived out of it for the better part of a year.

Midland had Tommy White and Gage Jump last year. Double A ball is cheap entertainment. Definitely go see a Permian-Lee game. The talent isn’t the same, but the passion still exists. Also, Team USA gold medal goalie is a former Jackelope.

Dozen or so years ago I was vacationing in Fort davis for a few days and attended a BBQ, I was 46 at the time and I got to talking to this old fellow who was a pipeline welder out of Odessa. I was getting comments and phrases that weren't fitting his age. I asked him how old he was and he said 38. This dude was a raisin that I'd figured was in his mid 50's. Wear sunscreen and long shirts baw.

Yes. People have been living there for quite a while now.
What an odd thing to not know. I’ll bet google could answer that for you real quick.

The two people I know form Odessa are kind of strange. Not bad, just different.

It’s Texas, after all.

I kid. Never been out that way, but my brother used to have to make the drive from Houston ALOT and didn’t have much to write home about.

I know. I would have to commute from midland to Odessa every day or at the very least 3 times a week. It should only be about 6 months so I think I might as well just live in Odessa tbh
its a 30-minute drive
Live in Midland enjoy 4 days of the week

I've been in the oil business for 12 years. It would require more than 500k/yr to get me back out there.

This means nothing you realize right? If you make $450k that’s not moving the needle. I’d assume being in O&G for 12 years you make decent money.

Parked my camper in Mccamey and drove to Iraan.

Probably more people have died there than lived there.
