I'm in Jacksonville, and the bastards designed the city from the outside working in so everything is spread out. There are pockets of actual communities/cool neighborhoods but for the most part it is very spread out. Luckily I live in one of those more established neighborhoods.

I sit at the watering hole by my house alone all the time after work for a drink or two. Bartender knows what I drink.

Nothing wrong w going out solo. Just be sure to sit at the bar. After a drink it's easy to spark up a conversation with bartenders or nice looking chicks.

I've had good and bad experiences. If you're the stranger in a dive overtipping the staff is a wise investment.
And if you're really good at
pool be careful about how much money you take from locals. I'm really not good enough to worry about it but I have seem some smartass hustlers beaten and robbed in parking lots.

It's ironic you say that. I had never used Tinder before and decided to try it, I signed up for it randomly at like 3 in the morning last week. And it was the biggest piece of shite ever. Just nothing but bots and spam. I heard it was good when it first came out, but now it sucks, at least around here.
