Btw, it’s almost always just crud building up in the plug. Most places won’t even charge to clean it up. Just a 30 second job passing a tool in there.

None of the quotes for my windows have come in below $36K. I am with you about wanting to just rent sometimes.

My house is a damn money pit. Sometimes I feel like it takes most of our disposable income.

Man, I've been there. Try to look at it as experience. If the shite happens again (it will) you'll be better prepared. My cousins set to 70 and the house will not go below 74 until after dark, so maybe it isn't totally gone?

Thanks brother, that’s what I tell myself. I know what to do next time.

This isn’t a doom and gloom post. We’ll be ok.

What’s frustrating is funds meant for fun go to this shite. I’m planning on going to Alaska for some cast and blast. Now, it’d feel selfish as hell spending that allocated dough on that when I need to spend it on my family. We’ll see, I’ll figure it out.

Just needed to vent cause it never ends and pisses me off

Part of it is but I have a lot of windows and some of them are pretty big and not typical sized.

FWIW, that is basically two houses worth since we will be doing the guest house at the same time. I could save a little now and do the guest house at a later date but that seems pointless.

If you were an illegal you could be living rent free in a luxury hotel with all your meals and health care paid for.

Never ends. Tires, roof, new house ac, new car, one in college and one a senior in HS. I asked my wife where $35,000 went in 2 months this summer. Poof. Gone. I now need a new $600 windshield and $600 car tag. Summer needs to end around here.

I feel your pain brother, was thinking the same thing recently.

There’s an Orange ray of hope on the horizon this November.

That’s going to happen eventually. Not all DIY projects or repairs are going to success stories. Some repairs will always require professionals.

There’s no harm in trying to fix it yourself. Even if sometimes you waste time or money, you’ll come out ahead in the long run.

Damn…I complained when my Nicholls parking pass was 50 dollars 25 years ago.

For a grand a semester, they should let you park in a facility space and offer valet service.

I found that it never stops and no matter how you budget or how you save, something will occur that has never occurred before and be something that there was no way to account for that and then you are right back to not having extra money set aside cause you just used it.)

That's why people shouldn't completely go without affording themselves a luxury here or there. Many people are just one major medical (or other) event from bankruptcy/financial devastation.

His truck is 15 years old with crank windows. Not sure a valet would know how to roll down windows.

Yep, it's always something. Nothing lasts the way it used too and the price of repairs is absurd.

The thing that gets me is when a house gets into the 12-17 yo range depending on the initial quality. You rolled along for all those years with minimal maintenance and repair costs and then it hits. HVAC, roof, appliances, water heaters, paint, etc. It seems like once it starts it just never seems to end.

this can’t be real. $1,000 just for parking?

I think they screwed you because no way parking costs that much

shite happens, seems to happen often these days. We paid for our pool and the A/C went out that day. an extra 12k on top.

Every day vertical is enough for me, I'll make more money.
