I'm interested in joining to participate in the charitable work they do, and the social and professional aspects of being a member.
Anybody a member and can give any feedback?

I’m a member of Knights of the Round Table

Probably so. This site is littered with old farts.

Blood in, blood out. You get to a certain level and they own you.

I'm not a Catholic or a member but I participate in every charity cook they do if I am able. A lot of people thank me for my patronage. Truth is one of my Catholic friends told me he was gonna be frying fish and drinking beer at the KC hall one Friday night so I went with him. I enjoy the hell out of it.

I know you eventually get a sword. I am in. If I can wear a silly hat AND a sword, what could be wrong?

I use to be a member of an order of Knights. But then I discovered their plot and I wiped them out. Now I’m in another, far more exclusive, order; in fact there’s only two of us, no more, no less.

You have to make sure you can fit in those little go carts.

That is no longer done.

What’s the point then?

Make sure you vet the Council well beforehand, you don’t want this to be your epitaph:

My grandfather was a member. I remember him saying they’ll help you get rid of a body.

Depends on the council. Some have lots of old members who refuse to spend money. Others are more active and are focused on doing good deeds. You can visit different councils before deciding which one to join.
Swords are only if you are 4th degree (very few members) and in a color guard. You only see the full regalia when a 4th degree dies and they appear at his funeral or maybe a very special event.
If you like working at fish frys in the spring and cooking meals in disaster areas you should check them out. Most councils do plenty of charitable work.

Joined in 2012. They do good work. Our council’s average age of participants is north of 65 but if you can get past the geriatrics they’re good folks.

all chapters are a bit different but they all do good work.
some are more church oriented and some are more like charity oriented not too intertwined with the church directly.
some of our guys just became members to come hang out and play cards, hang with the guys once a week and then some were serious no nonsense church types
