Any way to retrieve old notes on your phone from app?

Yesterday, my notes app was empty when I opened it. There wasn’t even a “recently deleted” folder. There was no back button, nothing. I had about 25 notes on there, maybe 5 of which were really important.
I restarted the phone…nothing.
My iCloud storage has been full for a while, so when I logged into the cloud, it retrieved everything from 2021 and prior. Yea, my iPhone SE is old as shite.
No new updates for my phone.
I deleted the app and redownloaded…nothing.
In other words, I had notes only saved to the iPhone that were randomly wiped clean. Surely, that data is somewhere that I can access, right?

We live and we learn.
If you rely on technology, don’t be cheap on that technology.

You know anyone that does phone forensics for a law enforcement agency?

What was on the notes?
Did you have it backed up to the cloud?

Only way I can think of is if you have one of the old school backups of your iPhone from when the notes were there. These are the backups done on a PC using the iTunes app. You’d have to restore one of those. Copy the notes (email them to yourself etc) then restore the latest backup from iCloud and restore the notes.
Are you sure they were on the phone only and not just connected to a different email account that just isn’t on your phone right now?

I mean he still could if he didn't use a proper/secure notes app

Yeah, I’ve checked the various accounts and logged into each one a second time and still nothing

You sure you're in the right folder? Occasionally mine will switch folders when I open it.
Check the "< Folders" at the top left and make sure it shows the correct folder.
Mine will switch to the folder under my account - but there is also a folder under "On My Phone" where all of my notes live.

Yes. The notes I lost were on the “on my iPhone folder”. I guess that means they weren’t backed up.

I still write down shite, even the stuff in my phone and use the phone as a back up

Weird but my iPad’s notes, linked to my iPhone, disappeared one Saturday night a few weeks ago and I noticed it the Sunday morning. I went to iCloud and restored the notes to my devices. I know I did not delete them so something mysteriously caused this.
Freaked me out just a tad.

This must be update related, because it happened to my paralegal a few days ago. I had to go into settings > apps > notes and turn the “on my iPhone” account back on. She had iCloud properly updating, so I don’t know if you’re shite out of luck, but take a look in there first. Then again, if you overwrote everything with an old backup already, you might just be fricked
