Echo. The easy feed head is the best thing to happen in weed eating since the two stroke engine.

Echo or Stihl. There is no substitute.

Whatever you get, don't run Ethanol based fuel in it and use a good oil to premix.

I've had a Stihl for 8 years now and it's still going strong. Forgot to bring it to the camp this weekend and ended up using my Dad's cheapest in the store model witht the curved shaft. I changed the string 7 times and now I have back issues.

I'm a whore for stihl equipment and I really like my weedester.

I've had my Stihl for 4 or 5 seasons now, and it's hands down the best weedeater I've ever owned. I used to be part of the "buy cheap, toss, repeat" crowd myself, but I came to realize that a good piece of equipment is well worth the money.

I just purchased the Echo PAS-225. This model lets you buy more attachments. Right now I have the straight shaft trimmer, edger and blower attachments and they all work great. I like this as I only have one engine to maintain. Plan on adding the hedgetrimmer and pole saw attachments too.

I have red max straight shaft type for the last 7 years. Only thing I had to replace was dry rotted gas line.

buy the brand sold by the repair place most convenient to you. don't buy anything from Lowes or Home Depot unless there is a local repair shop. Otherwise, you bought a disposable machine.
