Any safety issues lighting a fire under your engine block?

I have had to do this year's ago due to cold conditions and the engine freezing Up.
I haven't had to do this in many years and wondering if there is any safety concerns with the modern cars. This is my neighbors van and I don't want to give him a bum steer.

Just put your engine block in the microwave like all the normal people

Light it under the gas tank. Engine will thaw much quicker that way

Should be fine. There are literally no combustible or flammable materials associated with a vehicle's engine.

Open the hood up and use hair spray and a lighter to thaw it.

I'd be less worried with the gas and oil and more worried about all the plastic and rubber.

I would think putting charcoal (lit) in a roasting pan w/ foil over it (with holes for air flow) would generate enough radiating heat to keep it from freezing.

It's fine. I saw that guy on mountain men do it, and it turned out okay. The one who has all the dogs. And he drives that old truck. So if you can do it under an old truck you can do it under a new minivan. Because new things are better than old.

I see people are making fun of the idea of you doing this. However, during WWII, particularly on on the eastern front, it was quite common for fires to be lit under tank engines to warm them up.
