If you are coming from a part of the country with moderate weather, how long did it take for you to get used to the heat? Do you ever get used to it? What about pollen allergy? Is it really as bad as folks make it out to be?
i grew up in West Texas and live 40 miles north of Austin now. Austin and SA suck balls in the summer so much. It's such a thick oppressive heat and you feel like the UV is cranked up to 11ty.
Austin, College Station, and Bastrop area pollen mess with me pretty bad. Where i'm at is less wooded, but still kinda "part of" the hill country but doesn't get me like West Texas or those areas do.
That being said, late September/early October to May are pretty great temperature wise.

Not really. Here is a decent map that shows where the hill country area is. Some areas are much more hilly than others.
i understand spicewood and wimberly are pretty, but Kyle and Buda are indeed flat and ugly. I understand they're the burbs, but they both are pretty flat relative to the rest of the surrounding area.

Dripping Springs?
From what I understand, West and North West Austin are hilly and nicer geographyically. And the further south, south west you go, its flat and boring. Is that true? I guess Dripping Springs falls into that category
Thanks for asking, but we're full. Go look at Georgetown

I flew back to New Orleans from Austin yesterday. It’s a dry heat. It was 104 ish and it was hot, but not miserable. New Orleans with the humidity at 90 is way worse.

This is true. Central Texas usually has a nice breeze that makes the heat much more bearable then Louisiana heat and humidity.

I've been here for about 6 years.
I came from Houston, so this was pleasant compared to that shite.
Pollen isn't bad, cedar can give some the sniffles. Crazy to think that the pollen may prevent someone from moving somewhere.
how much money you got?

Seriously considering moving there with the family. If you are coming from a part of the country with moderate weather, how long did it take for you to get used to the heat? Do you ever get used to it? What about pollen allergy? Is it really as bad as folks make it out to be?

What are some good areas to buy a new construction home (would like to be able to pick the lot, kitchen cabinets, counter tops, flooring etc. so not a home that is already built) with good public schools that is ~30 minute drive from downtown?

No. It's been hot as frick with no rain for three months. It sucks right now.

It sucks, but you can get shots or hop on the Claritin train for relief.

Good luck on new builds. Best bet is to get pre-existing and make changes after.
Come out to Georgetown - what you described describes this area...and it has a cool little downtown square with shops and restaurants.

I like it. How is the Lake Travis ISD? I know it probably doesn't compare to Eanes ISD or Leander, but is it decent?

Registered Independent. I will vote for whoever Elon tells me to vote for. J/K

Now tell me about Brushy Creek, baw! How far is it from Round Rock and Cedear Park? Do these 3 cities kind of blend in?
