Atelectasis can result from an obstruction (blockage) of the airways that affects tiny air scas called alveoli. When the airways are blocked by a mucous "plug," foreign object, or tumor, the alveoli are unable to fill with air and collapse of lung tissue can occur in the affected area.

Um yeah I ain’t answering that
The average salaries of various specialties are publicly available info
Radiology is one of the higher ones most years
Some of us also have passive income from owning equipment or other ancillary stuff
Suffice to say it’s more than I ever imagined I would earn, but I didn’t start getting it til I was like 36, when most of my friends had been earning real salaries for many years

What type of Radiology do you practice? General?
Not gonna get too specific on TD
I did a fellowship in a sub specialty area that now occupies about half of my professional time....rest is general

First I wanted to say I’m always surprised by the amount of Docs on this board. I appreciate Docs coming on to give medical advice.
But I always laugh that this is always the first thing said across the board by all doctors. ‘I make great money now but I didn’t start until my 30s’.
How many people make great money out of college in their early 20s right out of school? Most that make great money in their 20s got somewhat lucky by starting a business, working for a tech company that blew up, etc. It usually is not career avg pay for that degree.

I was just responding to Cosmo.
Like I said, many people I knew made enough earlier in life that, when accounting for the time value of money, I would be well into my 40s before catching up with them, even with my high earnings.
I am referring to mostly other professionals like lawyers, finance etc but this is even true for people in skilled trades (who can start earning as early as 20.)
Even modest average salaries add up to a huge advantage when projected over 10-15 years. I was nursing 6 digit student debt and bouncing credit cards most of that time.

Sounds like your expectations are a little too high. This might be because you don’t know very much about radiographs or their interpretation.
C'mon now? Don't you think that is a pretty weak read?
Just completely puss out and "suggest CT".

I don’t use “clinically correlate” myself, but the fact is we don’t know the patient, and the referring doctor does.
Blood, pus, tumor, water, can all look exactly the same on a cxr. So if you tell me virtually nothing (“chest pain” lol) about the patient (which is the case 99% of the time), send me a shitty portable AP on a kyphotic old lady who can barely inhale, and I see something in their lung, what exactly do you expect me to say?
It’s the study that’s weak, not the read.

I'm not a radiologist, but I did learn a lot about it from watching TV.
