It's not necessarily cautious.....it's common sense.

Ask your pediatrician the same question and they will tell you the same thing.

But knowing you and how you have to argue EVERY DAMN THING on here, you will argue that is wrong and do what you want to do with no regard to your baby's safety.

That poor baby.

Common sense to me is you shouldn't be heating the milk to anywhere near anything that would be classified as "hot."

He probably wouldn't. He says a lot of the stuff most people spout is pure nonsense. That's why I like him.

Yea, I'm all about endangering my baby.

I just came in here to stay that this is the biggest gimmick. I almost fell for it myself and got laughed out of the car by my wife when I mentioned it.

How hard is it to put 6oz and 3 scoops of powder in a bottle and shake it up.

This is the epitome of a gimmick. We have a 6qt container on the counter with the bulk formula and a gallon of the baby water next to it. It takes all of 5sec to make a bottle and we use room temp water no need to heat it

same here. I always laugh at my sister waiting 3 minutes to use one of those bottle warmer things while the baby is/was screaming it's head off

How's your baby going to survive without hot formula?

if you breastfeed, you will have to warm the frozen milk bags at least

I remember longingly staring at the microwave at 3 am while running warm water over the frozen milk bag to thaw them

See Bama actually is intelligent and wouldn't microwave a bottle or water in a cup to place in a bottle.

Cause he cares about his baby boy.

You clearly care more about believing you are "right" and arguing about it on a message board than taking simple precautions to keep your baby safe.

And that is a huge difference compared to warming liquid milk for a second. Microwaving something frozen is something I would not do, because common sense.

Is my baby still doomed nurse?

Agree 1000% with LSUNurse on not using a microwave for anything related to babycare.

Don't be lazy, but most of all don't show how stupid you are when your baby suffers scalding of the mouth, throat, esophagus and stomach then develops strictures due to scar tissue, requiring surgery and a feeding tube placed in the abdomen. Don't be stupid.

No one is advocating thawing frozen milk in a microwave.

Nurses say that because of three simple facts:

1. Common sense isn't all that common.
2. Anyone, regardless of i telligence, can have a baby (for the most part)
3. People are stupid.

I don't disagree with any of that.

Nurses do not say things that are "unnecessarily cautious". There is a reason for everything we teach and we can back it up. Don't be stupid and not listen to what a nurse teaches you. We don't teach people just for fun and we don't make things up to make your life more difficult. Don't want to listen? That's your choice. You are not going to come back and say we told you wrong.

Damn, I'm doing it wrong then. I make sure and put every new baby item we buy in the microwave for a good 5 minutes to disinfect it. Clothes, crib, and diapers. Can't ever be too safe

Yes they do.

You're right, I'm not. Because I'm not going to give my baby something that is scalding hot or anywhere remotely close to it.
