So, Lunchbox, you would put a liquid in the microwave, but not something frozen? That's stupid. Just in case you lack knowledge, using the microwave or water that is too hot to thaw breastmilk will destroy it's purpose. Might as well just throw all the frozen breast milk in the trash if you plan to microwave it or put it in hot water. Babycare requires planning. If people don't have the time, they shouldn't have babies.

I wasn't referencing frozen milk. This was about warming a liquid in the microwave. Beyond stupid when it comes to anything related to a baby.

Yes.

Why?

I already said I'd never thaw frozen milk in a microwave, but thanks for the lesson I apparently needed.

Well, good thing that was never my plan. Also, can you link my to some scientific data that microwaving milk kills the nutrients. Everything I've read said that it's largely unsubstantiated.

Duh.

Best way we found to warm a bottle. Put the bottle in a cup and place it in the sink. Let the hot water run into the cup for a minute or two. The outside of the bottle will be the hottest at that point, so when you take it out, you can feel if you accidentally got it too hot. Give it a shake and done.

As soon as the baby starts whining, I'd do that, and by the time I got the spit rag and everything ready, I'd gotten the bottle warm enough.

Microwaving water is a weird thing. It's always shocked me how hot you can get it without realizing.

How hot does formula need to be? Based off stuff I've read here, it seems room temp is fine. SO are you assuming I'm going to get this formula piping hot? Because that's a pretty terrible assumption.

A better assumption is that I'd never microwave milk to make formula in the first place, because it's an unnecessary step.

You and nurse have latched onto a comment that I made referring to the stupidity of the device in the OP and have tried to switch the argument.

This is a perfect example of why nurses get a bad rap.

You just go ahead and believe in what you believe in. No problem with that.

That's a good way of copping out when you realize I haven't been saying anything crazy.

Seems you mentioned you'd heat it in a cup in the microwave. That's where Nurse and I came in to set you straight.

Actually, you just chastised me for thawing milk/formula in the microwave. Something I have said plenty of times I'd never do.

Except yall didn't. You created an argument that you think you've won somehow. I sure hope my wife doesn't start acting like this when she finished nursing school.

You are the one that's copping out. Go back and read at least two of your posts where you mentioned using the microwave. What a waste!!!

If you can't follow the thread, that's on you. I've made my thoughts on the matter incredibly clear.

Trust me, you are in for a big surprise on what a changed person she will become.

I'm glad that I'm retired and don't have to deal with your type anymore.

I'd be concerned with the cleanliness of that contraption. Seems would be hard to get all the parts sanitized. Then holding water at a low temp would just be a good place to grow nasty stuff

I doubt it.

Yea, dealing with someone that can figure out on their own to not give a baby scalding hot liquid must have been a bitch.

Not really, it's dealing with a know-it-all like you is. Just don't let something happen after you have been instructed on the right way to do something. You'll be in for a rude awakening.

I don't claim to be a know it all. But I do know how not to make scalding hot formula or breast milk.

God you're insufferable.
