You are right. This is the stupidest thing I've ever seen.
Instead of manually (such hard labor) adding the powder and water to the baby bottle, some find it necessary to push a button to have the task done for them. I guess they would rather spend their time cleaning this contraption daily!
In the NICU/Wellbaby world, if formula has to be mixed, bottled water is used and if the whole bottle of water is not used within 24 hours it is discarded. At home, bottled water used to make formula should be kept in the refrigerator. If tap water is used it must be boiled, decanted and refrigerated. Babies who are not breast fed do not have the benefit of immune factors delivered in breast milk. WTF is keeping the water safe in this stupid machine? What is preventing bacterial and mold growth in the water chamber or in the delivery tubing?
What a sad, pathetic bunch of people resorting to "an easier way" to prepare baby formula. People using a formula maker are most likely highly educated, but just plain dumb. It is not a good idea to risk the health of your child for something you think is a convenience. It will not be convenient for you to stay with your baby in a hospital room when they have a raging gastrointestinal infection that could lead to their death.
Parents doing stupid things really sets me off. I spent too much time in NICU/Wellbaby and pediatrics and cannot tolerate stupidity when it comes to the care and well being of little ones. Grow a set and take responsibility for the wellbeing of your child!

Yea, I bet everyone on here acts exactly the same in person.

your wife popped your kid out yet?
No, but I can promise you that our house won't be filled with all this useless junk that we "need" according to the registry guide. My wife and I are in total agreement on that.

I will say the only thing I would recommend is a changing table, and a diaper genie. Those two things are huge conveniences.

if we had to use formula, I probably wouldn't buy this mixer thing either

see I found this to be completely useless

some of the expensive "useless junk" is really awesome though, like those automatic swings/rockers
Those serve a real purpose.

I know

Really, I thought it was awesome, although wife likes to really stuff it. I could see how you could do without it though. I think I might sell it and go with a simple trash can with those febreeze trash bags. Cause I will admit there is no scent protection in the genie.

the 3 "gadgets" that I highly recommend are
- the automatic swing
- miracle blanket
and this thing

SO put a cup in the microwave the pour it in the bottle. I guarantee I can do that and clean the cup faster than 90 seconds.
Yeah you aren't supposed to do that either.

I'd make sure it stirred evenly and not too hot. It's not hard to figure out.

a chair that attaches to tables
we always kept it in the car for restaurants (when they are smaller high chairs are too low) and for when we would go friends/family houses
its just one of those things that you don't consider but end up using a lot (or at least we used it a lot)
we also eventually used it at the house because our daughter liked sitting at the table with us rather than in a high chair to the side

It's actually what we instruct parents NOT to do.
You can't really tell if it's evenly warmed up(even if you stir it). There can be pockets of overly hot water that could burn your babies mouth.
Isabelle in this thread has NICU experience......she can back me up on this.

Nurses say lots of things that are unnecessarily cautious.

That's nice. Still doesn't mean liquid doesn't become a homogeneous mixture after being stirred.

That's what I figured, definitely can see a legit use for that.
My brother in law has a fold out high chair that is similar to fold out chairs in a bag that is just awesome. I want one of those.
