Exactly. A lot of general parenting advice is basically dumbed down to the lowest denominator. The advice can't be "if you do x, don't do y" because there are dumbasses out there who do not have common sense to go overboard. It is easier to say, "DON'T DO THIS!". Like how they changed the infant/child medication (Tylenol? Benadryl?) formulation a few years ago and removed instructions for 2 and under because people were overdosing their babies.
Diaper Genie is a piece of crap in our house. It holds like 20 diapers and it can stink if you don't empty it frequently. We only use it for morning diapers upstairs but the rest of the day we are downstairs so it is easier to just throw it in a store bag and put it in the garbage can outside.
