Chuy's is around for Tex-Mex.

Went to O! Chulo's once, probably not as good as Chuy's... those are the only Mexican places I have tried so far.

I need to find a good Greek place, that's one thing BR did right.

I've been to Lakeside a few times, definitely a good spot and nice location.

Smoky Mountain Brewery right by Total Wine has some pretty good bar food as well.

Yeah, if it's craft beer you're after, Dixie Lee isn't the place, they're pretty much exclusively wine and spirits.

Dixie Lee blows arse compared to Total Wine.

It's close to it, they renamed Parkside Tavern to Parkside Grill. They have similar takes on the same theme at other locations with different names too. Got away from the ****side Tavern naming. Think they had one somewhere else too, but it's been a few decades I forgot the name. Lakeside I think was the last to open with that naming.

I don’t know too much about the living situation but I’ve spent about 4 weeks over the last few months in Knoxville and it’s a charming little city. Lots to do and beautiful scenery, not too far from Nashville. Housing is 50x more reasonable than it is here in Chicago.

I prefer Connor's over Calhoun's. Calhoun's has been around a long time and are part of Copper Cellar Food's which seems to own most of the local popular spots that are not national chains.

I've been wanting to try the Walnut Kitchen. Just haven't had time.

Moved here in 2003 from Slidell and there was nothing on the west side of Pellissippi Pkwy. It's a great place to raise a family.

Smoky Mountain Brewery (at least 4 locations) is also part of their group.

What are your favorites? We live in west Knoxville as well but haven't done a crazy amount of food exploration.

Kefi for cocktails and food (favorite place in Knoxville)
Stock and Barrel for burgers
Dead End, Sweet P's, Archer's for BBQ
Oli Bea for breakfast
Hard Knox or A dopo for pizza
Cruz Farms for ice cream (I think they have a pizza place as well)

Chuy's is alright. I do love their Chile Rellenos with the boom-boom sauce. Mexico Lindo on Cedar Bluff makes some badass beef or chicken Tamales (highly recommend) but everything else there is average.

Will definitely remember Kefi and check it out next time we can wrangle up a babysitter.

Stock and Barrel is excellent... that's probably my favorite place so far.

I've been to Sweet P's and enjoyed it, will check out the other spots.

Oli Bea and A Dopo have been on my list for a while, just need a good chance to go. It's tough with a toddler.

Cruz Farms has a pizza place in South Knox I believe... I've taken the kid to Phoenix a few times, but haven't been to Cruz Farms ice cream downtown yet.

Not from Knoxville but grew up in Blount County and the Maryville food scene is really growing. Love Foothills Milling as another poster said.

From where we live I can hop on 140 and be in Maryville almost as easy as downtown Knoxville. I'm a big fan of Round 6 Brewing over there.

I’d add Abridged for a great spot to take your kid and have great beer/solid food. I think it’s the best brewery in Knoxville. Their food menu is limited but what they do is excellent.

The brewery is really accepting of families.

To the original poster, Knoxville is a nice area. I think it has everything you need and is not overwhelming in size. We’ve enjoyed our time here. I’d suggest looking at the Bearden area, which is west Knoxville but in general only 4-5 miles from downtown and closer than Farragut. Close enough to the city, with some really nice neighborhoods. It’s important to note that Beardenis a fairly broad area, but within it, I’d say there’s very few areas I’d completely rule out.

I've probably been there more than anywhere else in the city so far.

I think Pretentious does better beer, but it's close, and Abridged is definitely more family friendly and a lot closer to the house. I was there last Friday though and they had a few standouts on tap... definitely closing the gap.

Beer everywhere another brewery just opened up to many breweries to count. Plenty of local food if you people get out of Farragut. It’s cheep it’s safe the local government is a bunch of libtard nut jobs creating more BS red tape and another level of bullshite regulations and unaccountability that would shock anyone from Louisiana.
