Any OT'ers in Miami (FL)?

I may have a job opportunity to move down that way. I have honestly never been and know it is pretty expensive. That being said, Charleston isn't exactly a cheap place to live as well.
I'm 28 and currently single. I grew up in the Lowcountry area of South Carolina my entire life and although I wasn't actively seeking to move, this may be a perfect opportunity for me to try something new out. The pay is better, but it isn't OT-baller level.
I'm going down that way in two weeks to check it out and see what I think. For you that live there or have lived there, can you recommend some neighborhoods I should look at for living purposes?
Any pros/cons, tips and advice will be much appreciated.

I would never live there.

If I had the opportunity to live in South Florida, I would go in a heartbeat.
I don't think it's THAT expensive honestly, def not compared to Charleston.

I live in Naples, about an hour and a half away. The funny thing about South Florida, while as far south as you can go, it is not the south. We have so many people from the Northeast, Canada and freaking Ohio. The east coast has even more North-easterners. The weather is fantastic, nice to go to the beach whenever you want. Food sucks and it seems like there is no identity to the state, because everyone seems to be from somewhere else (at least in S. FL). Naples is very expensive, and I have heard Miami is as well. Bonus, no state income tax. Overall, I like living in Florida, for what that's worth.

What part of the city is the job? I live and work in West Palm now but have worked in and around Ft. Lauderdale and Miami.

I live in the keys so I have to go there often. Would never want to live there. The crime is bad, the traffic is a mess, and for the most part the people there aren't so great.
On a side note we've often considered moving to Charleston when we retire.

Yeah, Naples and Miami aren't even close to being in the same discussion.

In Naples, maybe. That's because you live where most people go to die.

Because you live in a boring arse city.

Brickell
Probably the best answer if you will be working downtown.

Live in Tampa and frequentry travel to miami. Lots of traffic if you live in the burbs but Brickell is the place to be. There are a ton of fun things to do all within walking distance. If you have the chance, go. Life is short

Miami isn't my cup of tea. The lifestyle is all about trying to get money and flaunt it. Then you have the traffic, crime, cost of living, and people who are worse than New Yorkers.
All that said, I do enjoy visiting Miami every few years. There's definitely a lot to do and the food is fantastic.
Ft. Laud isn't bad. But I would never live in Miami. And you can't even compare Naples to Miami.

Depending on your pricepoint and the type of living you want you could look into Edgewater and north. Would go through midtown and then there is a quickly developing area between midtown and about 95th up to Miami Shores
If you want the city feel and are working downtown, then live in Brickell or downtown.
I lived there for 6 years, and lived in Brickell, Edgewater and North Bay Village in my time. 3 different feels for sure

I live in Hollywood. Previously lived in Sunny Isles and Miami Shores.

Speak English please. I'm sorry, is Naples not south enough for you? And diverse food? We are on the Gulf and I can't get good seafood anywhere. Sorry, I come from Louisiana, which has amazing culinary choices. Naples is beautiful and perfect for rich old people, but the food and nightlife suck. My idea of a good restaurant isn't an Italian/Sushi infusion. Try again.
