Worked on rehabbing a building in the 300 block when I was in High School.
Got Lunch at the Napoleon House erry day. Po-Boys
Got a hummer from a Swedish chick who had a backpack.
She swallowed and was smiling up at me. Nice memory, thanks.

Almost got on at Lucky's, got out voted. Might have saved my life.
Knew quite a few people that worked on Bourbon, but that was the early 70's.
Why?
By passed the "what was it like part". It was edgy, but fun, no murders in the streets, but fights, etc. Cab drivers made a killing driving people 3-5 blocks for 5$ off the meter all night.

Just curious, wondering if it was fun or stressful. Or like working in any other big city

Why was the backpack significant?

I edited, sorry.
Not sure about other "big" cities, this is all I've got. Fun times.

In 2005 for boredom I used to play guitar, made the equivalent of about $70 an hour during Mardi gras.

A lot of strippers carry small backpacks for their outfits for the night.
