Very cool.

Yes. to newbies: try a sampler pack

Yep, $50 total investment 3 years ago including razor, blades, brush, cream. Haven't spent a dime since.

lol, what? it's a single blade loaded onto a metal holder? It doesn't get much simpler than that. I can buy 50 Feather brand platinum blades for $13. That'll last me one year since I use 1 per week. Blades don't get any sharper than Feather.
With the added bonus that my wife isn't always taking and using my razor.

My Papaw uses a setup like that.
I shave in the shower with a Gillette razor, I can't remember which one it is without going to look. But it works like a champ.
I use clippers to trim or if I let it grow out some. Trim it with electric trimmers then shave in the shower.
Edit. I work from home so I don't shave everyday.

I dont use all that fancy shite the one guy does and someone stole my fricking merkur but I do use a gold one that is made in India I think. I love it. Gotta get me another badger brush too since my daughter decided mine was perfect for putting on make up on her dolls with it. Currently using crappy Walmart blades that I need to make a change on also. I'm just slacking lol

Agreed, it's an absolute bargain compared to the other 5+ blade things. Feather is the sharpest blade I have ever used. My beard is really thick, and it cuts through it with little drag. It freaked me out the first time I used it.

How long does it take to get comfortable shaving with one that you aren't afraid of slitting your throat?

It's really, really easy. Just have to pay attention to the angle since the head doesn't pivot like the disposables.

to be fair
when guys get really into all these pre-shave oils, super fancy-sounding creams/soaps, and then the post-shave balms, they are making it very complicated

I'm very interested in start to shave like this. Where would be a good place to start?

Once you get the hang of it super easy.
I run my safety razor all over my neck like a disposable now haha.

The only words I understood from your post was you saying you're gay.

I love wet/DE shaving. Been doing it that way for about a decade. Got the whole set up.
This is not a criticism and I know blades are dirt cheap, but out of curiosity why do you change them so often? You shave every day? I only use Feathers and can go multiple shaves before needing to change. I could probably go a few years on 50 blades.
Just curious.

Your fantasies are your business.

Feathers are the best blade. I like them best after 2-3 shaves

quote:i AM as well... considering I only usually regularly shave my neck and the upper part of my cheek bones and maybe a bit around my mouth/right under my nose areas... I usually just clip the entire face and a 5oclock shadow od some sort.. since I have really blonde hair, it doesn't look bad or unprofessional

So yeah I'm a bit intrigued
