My VA case just moved to "pending decision approval"... Any clue if that means that I was found unfit?

Are you in the military right now? I ask because you use the term Medical Board, which is the process you go through to get a medical discharge.

Are you trying to get into the armed forces, or trying to get x% of disability for the rest of your life?

You should be at sanctuary. Should not be a problem.

Man, you're gonna have to stand up and walk 12 steps in the Navy's new deep sea suit. That thing weighs nearly 300 pounds.

Are you sure that your situation is pending at the Veterans Administration?

I don't think I've heard of an active duty Soldier at 18.5 years whose medical board case is pending at the Veterans Administration.

BRAINWAVE !

Apply for a Sex Reassignment Surgery immediately. By the time surgery is scheduled, you'll be Retired at 20 years active federal service.

The VA gives you a disability rating while the Air Force determines whether you are fit for duty and if not, what percentage they find you. If over 30% then you are medically retired. If not you are given severance pay and discharged.

I've been slow playing mine as much as possible, but I noticed that the VA is nearly done with my claims that I filed during my C&P exams. Why would they be pressing with the process if they weren't told that I'm unfit?.

Usually VA decision is the first to get done iirc. Then DOD takes their sweet arse time.

You do need to hang on and get concurrent receipt and retire. What branch are you in? Need to talk to your peblo.

I don't want to talk to my peblo due to the fact that I want this thing to go as slow as possible

I don't know enough about the process to give you any advice. I didn't even know that an active duty bubba with 18 years of active duty could have a Compensation and Disability Claim pending with the VA. If I didn't know that, then I don't know enough to give any advice.

HOWEVER, I feel very sure that if you apply for Gender Re-assignment Surgery now, they might let you make it to retirement, especially if you agree to postpone this issue until AFTER you retire from military service. Tell them that you'll "pitch a fit like a Gay Olympic Figure Skater" if they don't agree to this deal.

That might work.

PS You can tell that I cracked a lot of jokes back in my barracks days.

I’m not trying to be a dick, but most people I know who retired earlier than 20 years from the military are 50+% disabled, although there are no obvious disabilities. Is that mainly PTSD/psych type issues, or is it an arthritic knee?

They're usually zero help anyways (peblos).

Are you still in your work or have you been moved to a transition unit? I'd ask more specific questions but not going to ask too personal on here.

When did you start the process?

Who is in charge of your med board? If you don't mind asking. Like hospital doctor, unit medical, or specific unit?

I'm not AF, but very knowledgeable and went thru this shite 2 yrs ago.

I waited a year on my med board. You need to talk to whatever the airforce has for wounded, injured and ill airmen. Start getting ready for transition regardless.

I work in the wing IG office.
Moved up there to help with promotion.

Started the process in November of 16

AFPC is in charge of my MEB now.
