Same but was 40yrs ago for me.

I remember it and it would be better as an adult.

A friend of mine went a few years ago and got a hotel overlooking the river and they watched Thunder Over Louisville fireworks show and said it was frickin amazing.

It’s terrible now, Cheese. Don’t do that to the OP.

The actual meal is pretty good, but finding a public place making it that way is slim to none, certainly not the TrackSino that have allowed CD to become.

If you know the woman of same name, she was well worth the experience, tho she may have quite a few years on her since my last encounter.

Best place for the "plain folks" to park historically. Some good house parties for those not getting in the track that day. Not sure what that is like today but it was not "ghetto", just poor folks scoring some hustle coin from the tourists. If you want drugs, go to a LoserVille sporting event. Score all the drugs and terrible booze you want.

Easy to score sex in the old days. Free BJ for better place in the potty line.

There are some companies that package an experience. It is worth it.
Bus ride to and from oaks and derby.
Logistics and tickets are the biggest barriers to a nice, non-infield experience.

It was fun to go to the museum and shop beforehand.
Make a run over to bourbon country while you are there.
Downtown Louisville is cool to walk around.

For betting, ask a sharp how to read the PPs for a few races and learn to pick a box exacta and box trifecta.
Even a novice can break even.

Better chance is have a friend in LCC (country) or PC (city). Old line and established.

Lots of old groups have the inside track. Was lucky enough to work for a family with this access in South Florida. Met at their establishment, police escort to and from Orange Bowl on bus every year I worked for them. Good block seats for the game. While not enough dough to be a member, those were some nice perks for the grunts.

If you park there now, your car will not be there when you come back. It has gone noticeably downhill.
