My 06 Civic Si quit running a few weeks ago as I've mentioned previously here. Replaced timing chain tensioner and redid timing, no luck. Tore the damn thing down and looks like I spun a rod bearing.
Any of you baws ever done an engine job before? Should I bite the bullet and just take the damn thing to the shop? And where is the best place to source a used engine?
Damn thing is a 2700 lb paperweight right now.

Not on anything newer than a 1977 Ford 351. Not worth it.

If you really want to keep the car, get a rebuilt motor and slap it in there.

Go to FB market place and I bet there’s a used Honda engine

If you have plenty of time and patience and an interest in doing that, it's a lot of fun.
If you have little time, little patience, and no interest, then it's going to be hell for you.
Also need the work space and tools.

Check around on Google for literally importing a slightly used Japanese engine.
Japan's emissions and environmental laws are such that some ridiculously low mileage requires engine replacement regardless of condition. Used to be able to get a 20k mileage 4 banger for like $300-400 including shipping to the USA. They have warehouses full of slightly used engines crated up for resale.
This place, in Houston, is a reseller LINK

Check salvage yards, you might be lucky and find one. Some auto parts sell bare blocks pretty cheap, you just need to buy a rebuild kit and put it together.
