No, but............as a teenager I lived right by a wooden bridge over a bayou. The bridge was about 30 or 40 feet from the water when it was low. There were a bunch of logs and sticks that would pile up against the pilings. You could look closely at them and the snakes were all sunning. They were actually pretty well camouflaged but you could make them out. A buddy and I would take a Zebco 22 and attach a weight and a treble (3 way) hook to the line, drop it down next to the biggest snakes we could find then reel them up near the top where we were. They would be snagged and erect. At that point we would shoot them with a pellet gun, a Benjamin .22 caliber. After a couple of hours we would have a pile of water moccasins and water snakes. More than once they were not dead yet and would try to strike us but thank God they never were successful. Fun times!!

Oh, I have been subjected to some amazingly colorful uses of the English language but in general, my buddies have been too tired from running to fight. Plus it is a scientific fact that once you shite yourself your T-levels drop too low to throw hands for at least two hours.

buddy of mine got lit-the-hell-up by one. damn thing latched onto his wrist and pumped a full load into him. he was sick as hell for 10 days in the hospital. he was sucking on the wound on the way to ER and spitting out the window. the skin inside his mouth turned black and flaked off - nasty shite. he had red streaks up to his shoulder by the time he got to the ER.
not only is it a bite by a venomous animal, it is also a puncture wound. bad stuff!

Moved from there 25 years ago, used to see some in the bayous but almost never in the river.
Most interesting thing I’ve ever seen on the river was about 2am one morning while catfishing at “the tunnels” (if you know, you know), low flying airplane dropping shite in the river then a boat coming by to pick up whatever it was. Figured out years later that it was probably Barry Seal dropping coke but who knows
And yes I’m old as frick

had a chocolate lab when I was younger that really enjoyed catching snakes and lizards
I grew up on a fish farm and had a golden retriever that loved killing snakes. Three or four times every summer he would come home with his head all swollen. I would bet he had a minimum 15 moccasin bites to the face in his life.

Neighbor's kid was bit by a cottonmouth several years back. It was a graze but got the poison in him. In the hospital for several days. Mother told me he had very severe cramping in the leg. She mentioned the painkiller used and I don't remember it specifically but it was powerful. So I assume the pain was pretty bad.
I live in the woods and plenty of cottonmouths and copperheads. I always keep my eyes open and I wear tough steel-toed boots outside. On my hill, I usually see 3-4-5 copperheads a year. Although the last few years, I haven't seen any which is odd but fine by me

When he comes out of the flowers he’s got this water moccasin mid body and the dang thing is repeatedly striking him in the mouth face and head. I finally get the dog to drop the snake and rush him to the vet. By the time I get there his head is swollen to twice it’s normal size. We got a call the next day to come pick him up all back to normal.
Some dogs can fairly quickly develop an immunity to snake venom. The first few bites will make them sick, or could kill them, but it eventually gets to where it has no effect whatsoever. Phil Robertson had a duck dog like that. He talked about him getting bit often and not having a problem with it.

know a couple ol' baws who, if they had it on them, would probably shoot Obtuse just out of instinct if he pulled that.
And if I was on jury for the guy who shot him, it’d be a not guilty vote from me

Pastor at a local church got bit by one recently. He went directly to hospital, 20 vials of antivenom administered, each costing $7,000, and still spent a week in ICU.
Pastor made up a creative story to increase those donations

After reading everyone’s stories, I don’t want to endure the pain and pay the hospital bills from a bite.
Has the CDC come out with a vaccine yet?

I went into a small ravine on a golf course in east texas looking for my ball. Looked down and one was coiled ready to strike right between my legs. Luckily the weather was cold and it was sluggish. My playing parter swore my instantaneous vertical leap was record breaking and that I literally jumped up the side of the ravine to the edge in one bound. Startled the frick out of me.
