LINK

Even in South Louisiana this tradition has mostly died, but if you live deep enough in Cajun country it’s still practiced or at least known about.

We’ve kept it alive in our house, my 6 year old daughter is feasting on peanuts and dried shrimp, which she calls, “da lil shrimps”, right now. Also scored some fruit, a jar of olives, and some LOL dolls and other stuff.

Also known as Christin. Does anybody else practice this or have heard of it as some other name?

Facking Cajuns always trying to put some stupid twist on normalcy. Give it a rest and enjoy Christmas already.

Facking Yankees always trying to take their stupid names and make them sound Cajun because they have no culture of their own.

And this is a dying tradition that’s been around for over a hundred years, long before the rest of the world knew anything about Cajuns and had no reason to put a twist on anything.

Why do you think Yankees have no culture of their own?

They have culture, has just been largely washed away with pop culture and that suburb life. It’s happening here too, it’s mostly inevitable. I don’t even have a problem with it. I was just taking the absurdity or irony of “Meaux Jeaux’s” words and giving them back to him. First, a guy named Meaux Jeaux told me to stop putting a Cajun twist on everything, then a guy named “mo jeaux” questioned why I thought he didn’t have any culture of his own, just a lot of low hanging fruit.

I’m not a yankee.

Not really. I don’t think you’re that smart of a person. Probably not very well educated either. But you’ve convinced yourself that it’s somehow noble to be that way and that your “culture” is pristine and special when compared to all others. It’s a parochial point of view, but good luck with it.

So you think Cajuns are trashy, uneducated, and stupid, and yet you robbed from our culture to make a user name that you thought was clever?

What exactly does that say about you?
