So you’re saying that Cajuns can’t spell?

And I speak French, you dumb frick, so you’re not slyly getting your insults in.

I’m really getting a kick out of your assertion that adding “eaux” to English words that rhyme with “O” is some paragon of Cajun culture.

Sorry I stole that from you!

Not really. I don’t think you’re that smart of a person. Probably not very well educated either. But you’ve convinced yourself that it’s somehow noble to be that way and that your “culture” is pristine and special when compared to all others. It’s a parochial point of view, but good luck with it.

Nice! I wish I could be like you. So mighty and powerful. Damn, it sucks that you are so much better than us.

Good grief, the guy is sharing an old tradition and soliciting discussion around it. Go feed your ego somewhere else.

Cool. I’m sure he appreciates you white knighting for him.

It was a good natured thread until he made his stupid “Yankee” comment. He just can’t take it when it’s dished back out to him.

Cajuns don’t spell Jeaux that way.
Non-Cajuns trying to sound Cajun spell Jeaux that way. Many Cajun last names end in eaux and make the o sound. Non-Cajuns, especially LSU fans started doing this years ago and now it’s everywhere, and I’m starting to think they have no idea where it came from.

I had a grand grand pere named Joseph Doucet. He owned Joe’s Trawl Boards in Golden Meadow, later Joe Doucet and Sons. You Bayou Lafourche boys may remember that shop if you’re old enough. The man didn’t speak a word of English and that’s how he spelled his name.

Yeah, that’s where it derailed, had nothing to do with the comment right before it, and to a much much lesser extent the one before that. I chuckled at your comment, I was replying to the next one, which is when you went full defensive tunnel vision.

Honestly, man, I’ve just been fricking around with you too. It does sound like a cool tradition. Good that you’re keeping it alive.

Happy new year.
