Hope to have it approved within the next month or so...

Any real training going on or mostly administrative shite? Where do they do the ranges, obstacle courses, etc?

Camp Shelby and Fort Polk mostly.

ETA: Guess that tells you I wasn't chair force.

Mostly admin shite honestly. The base is really small and only really consists of the 4 story building located off of Opelousas Ave. Ranges are conducted at Camp Shelby in MS, and there are no obstacle courses nearby. The building is pretty nice and new (constructed in 2010 I think); however, the surrounding area is about as nice as NOLA East

ETA: I was stationed at Camp Pendleton before there and Camp Lejeune afterwards, so by comparison MARFORRES basically felt like I was working a civilian desk job.

Why in the hell would you want to be at MARFORRES and where were you previously?

Air conditioned 9-5 job vs sweating your balls off in one of the garden spots the USMC is known for. I can't imagine why.

You must be a boot.

I did my time in the desert while on active duty, buddy. Marforres is the closest billet for my MOS and rank. Not gonna drive 6 hours to appease someone who couldn't pass the ASVAB. Congrats on the waiver though...

That does look like an odd neighborhood for it.

Would Marines ever go shoot, or do any training, at the Navy SWCC River Training facility at the Stennis Space Center? My nephew, and his boat crew from Virginia, did a bunch of shooting while they were down there.
