Would Marines ever go shoot, or do any training, at the Navy SWCC River Training facility at the Stennis Space Center?
When I was there they just moved the rifle range from Ft Polk to Camp Shelby because the barracks at Polk were shitholes. I'm not exactly sure where they held pistol ranges, but they only had them once a year maybe and you basically needed to know Chesty Puller himself to get on it.

I did my time in the desert while on active duty, buddy. Marforres is the closest billet for my MOS and rank. Not gonna drive 6 hours to appease someone who couldn't pass the ASVAB. Congrats on the waiver though...
Isn't that true for all Marines?

I'm just messing with you man. Been out since 2008 and was a winger. Good for you for going back in, just wasn't for me. Think I spent more time over there in the sandbox than my duty station in San Diego.

Got a cush little Staff NCO billet with my name on it.
Cause that’s what my Marine Corps needs, more SNCOs.

Don't worry young blood. I won't make you stand at parade rest for me.

Some of the worst Marines I ever encountered were fossil SNCO’s who got out and then came back in. They came back when they realized the real world doesn’t really care about your rockers and they needed that sort of forced affirmation back. For some reason they were let back in. Next thing you know, they were filling big combat billets with no combat experience and telling LCpls with CARs and PH’s how the world works. Not saying this is what is happening here since its is MARFORRES so no combat involved.

Although i'm fairly certain you're a troll, you're actually pretty spot on. I'm not a SNCO though...
Got out as a Sgt back in 2010 after 2 deployments. Got my first degree and started traveling a lot for work. Originally wanted to attend OCS after getting my BS and being a reserve officer, but with work I was never really able to stay in one place long enough entertain getting back in. Anyway, moved back to Louisiana last year and started working on the process almost immediately. There's a TON of hurdles to get through to get past MEPs as a Prior-Service guy, so i'm not sure you're right when you say that "they're just let back in".
I also haven't seen any SNCOs go from an admin role to a combat role, so i'm not sure how often that happens either. I'm actually doing quite the opposite. Spend my AD time with 2 combat units, deployed with MPs but I am going back to fill an office role. Not ideal but i'll take what I can get to get back in. Not sure I could pass BRC at my age, but i'd love to work with those guys again but I wouldn't be heartbroken if I lat-moved into Intel or something related.
I plan to get back in, fill this billet satisfactorily, pick up SNCO and drop a WO package in a couple years. I'd just like to be back involved again. Not really about money or security. I've been pretty successful in the civilian world, but with MARFORRES being a couple hours from my house, and an open billet, there's no reason for me not to do it. Gotta pull the trigger on it before I get too old. I still run a solid 280 pft, so i'd probably still shite on most AD combat personnel. I did my pumps though. All about playing the long game at this point, Devil.

From my experience at MARFORRES it's the opposite. Combat guys that are put into admin roles that they end up hating

I suspect so you satisfied your own inquiry in that regard. In all seriousness, I’m not trolling, I just can’t fathom why any combat experienced Marine would go to any HQ voluntarily. Different strokes I guess. Good luck.
