How do you sign up with HUDL as an official? I checked the sign up form and it doesn't list official as a "role". Do you just use "fan/parent" or is there an established team for officials? Is there much use of this by baseball programs?

Our association is considered a "Team."

As for baseball... never seen it, but that isn't to say it cant be used.

There's always that as well. But usually that's never a good thing.

HUDL allows us to critique things that even the coaches don't see.

But yes...Coaches send in footage as well.

In my experience, there are a TON of coaches that are ignorant to the rule book. We get accused constantly of not knowing the rules, when we are 100% correct with our enforcement. Too many people believe that Saturday and Sunday rules translate to Friday night... They do not. I've had a coach tell me that he has sat with a recently retired official to watch film before, and after airing some grievances, was amazed at what the book said, compared to what he thought the rule was.

Don't get me wrong, some officials DONT know the rules or the mechanics, and are only out there for the check... Also, some coaches DO know what they are talking about, but you'd be surprised at the number of head coaches at the 3A level and above, who couldn't tell you what penalties award an automatic first down.

For the record- roughing the passer, roughing the kicker, roughing the holder, and roughing the snapper. Those are the only ones that are automatic 1st downs in high school.

If a reciever is covered up, then takes a step back to become uncovered and a RB steps on the line, is that motion legal as long as both are set for a second?
