HS Football officials get $70 game plus travel. $90 for UIC and $60 to run the clock. First year guys typically run the clock but must be dressed out in case of an injury to an official. I have a few buddies who make $2000 for the football season, thats working 3 games a week. They also meet every Monday to go over plays that were turned in on them and corrective actions.

For a grown adult with a real job... that's not enough money to cause someone to want to officiate. You have to do it for the love of the game.

Baseball question.
Play at plate, runner tagged out. Interference called on catcher for helmet being in base path. Is that correct call? Just never seen it before until recently

I agree. real money is in baseball, soccer, softball, basketball and volleyball tournaments where you can call 6-10 games in a day or more.

where are you getting this $70 a game for football from?

When I ran chains a few weeks ago I asked my buddy who was the HL what they make a game. Thats what he told me.

Exactly. When I played I hated officials but when I started officiating games I realized just how stupid it is to think they're out there purposely blowing calls. No one is trying to get bitched at relentlessly on purpose.

How much those pay these days?
Back when I was in college I used to do a lot of Babe Ruth games and tournaments. This was 20 years ago. I feel like we got like 85 for a doubleheader. I'd usually work 2 double headers during the week, and then on weekends, I'd work a doubleheader from say 9-1, take a couple of hours off, then work an evening one. And another doubleheader on Sundays.
So that was like $425 a week. Paid for my car insurance, gas, and beer money.

Plate ump doesn't make more than field? White hat doesn't make more than the other refs?
Interesting.

$65 for center and $45 on the sides (3 person.) We always try to have 3 man crews. 2 at the least and the assignor is good about making sure those refs can handle it and putting them on a little bit of a lesser talent level game. It's amazing the difference in the difficulty of calling offside on a lesser talented team and an elite team with a great technical coach. It can get really hazy at times especially if you don't have 2 ARs staying lined with the last defender. $90 for travel for some of the further games I do. Just took the NFHS test last night. I hate doing that shite. So many weirdly worded questions and multiple answers that could be technically correct

Not sure, I think Utrip is about $35 game for 12U and under. Coach pitch is $20 or so and 13U and above is a little more.

I get so frustrated. I wouldn't ever pass that bitch if you didn't only need a 70

I just did it myself, if they would ask the questions in plain English I probably have score better than an 75, think I'll stick with the chain crew!

like team K is in scrimmage kick formation and it is 4th and 8 at it's own 45 yard line. The ball is kicked and R receives it but during the kick prior to the ball crossing the neutral zone team R is guilty of a illegal block below the waist. Team R receives the ball and returns the ball to its own 30 where the ball is then fumbled and recovered by K - however during the play after the kick team K is guilty of a blindside block.
After the play a player for team R takes his helmet off and slams it into the ground on the field of play.
is it"
A; first down for K
B first down for R
C Replay the down
D clean hands rule - first down team R but penalized 15 yards.
